20 Apr 2009 (AFP) – Sudanese President Omar al-Beshir was set to visit Ethiopia on his latest foreign trip since an international arrest warrant for alleged war crimes was issued against him, diplomats said Monday.
“President Beshir will arrive here to hold talks on bilateral issues. He’ll arrive either tonight or tomorrow. The trip will last three days,” the Sudanese ambassador to Ethiopia, Akuei Bona Malwal, told AFP.
Another Sudanese diplomat specified that Beshir was expected to arrive in Addis Ababa on Monday, which an Ethiopian diplomat confirmed.
“President Beshir is arriving tonight in Addis for a meeting with Ethiopian authorities,” the Ethiopian official told AFP on condition of anonymity.
He added that Beshir would meet top government officials on Tuesday in the Sudanese-Ethiopian joint commission’s highest-level talks since 2005.
The Addis visit will be Beshir’s sixth foreign trip since the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant against him on March 4 for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Sudan’s western region of Darfur.
On April 1, he travelled to the holy Muslim city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia, where he performed the umrah, or minor pilgrimage.
Before his Mecca visit Beshir attended a March 30 Arab League summit in Doha, where other Arab leaders formally pledged their support for the indicted leader and condemned the court’s actions.
“We stress our solidarity with Sudan and our rejection of the ICC decision against President Omar al-Beshir,” the Arab leaders said in the summit’s final declaration.
Beshir has dismissed the notion that the warrant could restrict his travel.
“We went to this summit to show those who said we could not travel outside Sudan that we can travel outside Sudan,” Beshir told reporters. “Nothing can intimidate us into stopping travelling.”
Beshir also travelled to neighbouring Egypt, Libya and Eritrea over the last month.
No attempt has been made to arrest him during any of the trips, all to countries — Ethiopia included — that were not signatories to the 2002 international convention that created the ICC.
Ethiopia had always made it clear it would ignore calls to arrest Beshir and has led a push by the Addis-based Africa Union for the United Nations Security Council to defer the indictments.
The ICC accuses Beshir of criminal responsibility for “exterminating, raping and forcibly transferring large numbers of civilians” from Darfur, where the United Nations says the conflict has cost 300,000 lives.
Sudan puts the death toll from the six-year war at only 10,000.
It was the Hague-based court’s first-ever arrest warrant against a sitting head of state.

The United States has officially called the killing in Darfur a genocide, however, it is facing difficulty in rallying international cooperation to halt a genocide. Other countries have not categorized the conflict as a genocide. However, instead opted for a multinational response, of which he admits “is a slow and tedious process to hold the [Sudanese] regime accountable.” The United States as since placed economic sanctions on Sudanese leaders and companies to put pressure for change, and enforce consequences of the rampant violence.and the next target

Both Bashir and Meles Zenawi are war criminals who are committing atrocities. Both are racists because Bashir represents and stands for
the hegemony and supremacy of the Arab North while Meles Zenawi
does the same things to ensure the supremacy of his ethnic group.
Meles Zenawi also claims Arab ancestory and does not accept and like his Ethiopian or African heritage. The Arabized people of North Sudan practise racism against and treat the people of the South Sudan as slaves. Because of this, the Arab North and the resourceful African South have been in conflict for decades. Similarly, Meles Zenawi is practising discriminatory rules which favour members of his ethnic group and effectively marginalize others. The Tigray first or everything to Tigray policy of Meles Zenawi is leading to confrontation and conflict which can endanger the existence of the country. The effective exclusion and marginalization of others can be seen in the number of Tigryan persons being sent abroad on scholarships. The figures leaking
to us show that the Tigrayans make up 98% of the students leaving for studies abroad. The weyannes are practising their policy of winner take it all and the worst form of discrimination, exclusion and nepotism. They have no moral or any other ground to accuse the previous regimes in the country of discrimination and exclusion. The Arab first and Tigray first policies of Basher and Meles are two faces of the same coin and one should not be surprized over the latter`s support to the former.

Al-Basher and Meles Zenawi are Africa`s last remaining butchers and racists committing heinous atrocities against their resepctive subjects.
Al-Basher advocates and promotes Arab supremacy by oppressing and marginalizing the African population living in the South Sudan. Meles Zenawi has also institutionalized ethnic discrimination and marginalization in which the Tigre are treated as the superior citizens exclusively enjoying all the benefits and privileges in Ethiopia. The most important economic and political lives of the country are exclusively filled with persons of Tigray origin. As a consequence, Ethiopia is now a country where one experiences and witnesses racism in action.

Al-Basher and Meles Zenawi are allies in the crimes against Humanity and need to support each other as much as they can. Both have seized political power through the barrel of the gun and inflicting immense and untold sufferings on the peoples under their brutal rules. Arab and Tigrayan suprrmacy are the guiding policies of their respective regimes.
Non-Arab and non-Tigre citizens are treated as secondary ones and marginalized and denied basic human rights. The Janjaween Arab militia of Al-Basher who are causing carnage in Darfur and brutal Agazi Tigre sepcial forces of Meles Zenawi who are killing citizens in Ethiopia, are typical examples of the similariteis between the two dictatorships.
The Sudan is a country where the Arab north and African south have been in armed conflict for decades now. Successive Arab governments have been following policies of racial discrimination against Sudanese from the south. The temporary ceasefire and power sharing arrangements have not been able to create confidence between the two sides. Al-Basher had supported Meles Zenawi to seize power in Ethiopia. There were reports which indicated that the Sudanese heavy weaponry division had helped the TPLF enter Addis Ababa and control the country. Al-Basher is also helping the regime of Meles Zenawi by denying any access to the Ethiopian opposition in his country. In return, Meles Zenawi has paid the Sudan back by giving it a chunk of fertile Ethiopian land. There are several other secret agreements between Al-Basher and Meles Zenawi which address the territorial demands of the Sudan. Given Meles Zenawi`s official anti-Ethiopia policy and positions, the handover of territory to the Sudan and other neibours are the measures to be expected of him. The Oromos are aware of Meles Zenawi`s sinister motives of transferring part of their land into the hands of Al-Basher
and resisting the one man rule of Meles Zenawi. The loyal or paralysed opposition sitting with Meles Zenawi`s cadres and sharing some benefits in his so called parliament are accomplices in his crime against the country. The presence of the so called legal opposition in the country is of no use other than serving as a showcase for the political consumption of Zenawi`s western backers and donors. With the exception of the few, the leadership of these opposition groups is filled with persons seeking to promote their own personal interests. With Meles Zenawi in power, it is expected that Sudan could realize its long standing ambition of gaining access to or controlling the source of the Blue Nile.

Gets some facts before you start throwing out common misconceptions about the Amara people.
The Amara were at the top because they are the most effective group.
Menelik is not a person you’d want to make things up about if I were you.
You probably don’t know this but he was the leader of the great country of Ethiopia and was the first African leader to successfully stop a European nation from colonizing.

Eventhough i hate to read Mr. Litamo`s articles and replies, but some of the things he mentioned in his replies seems accurate with ethiopias historical analysis.
But if you have better explanation to challenge him please bring it forward that way we can defeat him. So my advice for is let us challenge his claims and discrdite him instead of attacking him personally.
I also heard in this forum this is may be the same guy who is working on book writting to support his claim/case, i hope he does not publish his book it may open up can of worms in Ethiopia`s politics as well may ignite civil war among Ethiopians tribes of different fuctions in Ethiopia.
