[ABBAYMEDIA UPDATE] Thousands Ethiopians protested during the G20 summit in London against the Ethiopian dictator on Thursday, 2 April 2009. The demonstration, for the first time, got large media coverage by all European media. Most media in Europe were highlighting the human rights abuses perpetrated by Meles Zenawi. The media coverages include: BBC-Video, CNN-Video, VOA- Amharic, DW- Amharic.
Big Victory:
Tedla Asfaw - VOA of Addisu Abebe interviewed (April 2) Ato Wondimu Mekonen from London and two gentlemen from Switzerland and Sweden on phone while the condemnation of Meles Zenawi was heard on background by huge crowd of Ethiopians who came from all over Europe.
The rush by TPLF’s Aiga, Ben of “belly first” including www.nazret.com and stick to the one minute video clip of OLF and ONLF and try to ignore the video clip of BBC’s own four minutes video clip is disgusting and non professional, fake journalism.
The millions of Ethiopians back home got the truth through VOA and the TPLF’s TV can show the Gambella and Ogaden butcher dinning with the queen and cheering behind the scene for his financiers. Not hanging the photo of Meles with G20 leaders might be punishable by jail.
The truth of the matter is none of the G20 leaders dare to visit Ethiopia because Ethiopians never welcome those who sided with their tormentors. That was why George Bush never touch the soil of Ethiopia and why Tony Blair was not welcomed by Ethiopians.
There will not be any official visit of Ethiopia by Obama or other respected world leaders because they know very well that any government sponsored welcoming ceremony could easily turn to anti-Meles rally that will shame both the host and the guest.
A tyrant who is despised by his own people will never get any respect in foreign land and when the last day comes no one comes to his rescue either.

For that regard I have to say thank you all and proud of you all. And you truely showed your love and respect for the Ethiopians and as a result as I am extermly happy today, many Ethiopians will be happy today all over the world. I am glad Ethiopians and other who wanted to be called Ogadians were out to show thier anger against weyane, Bravo, it was totally a great job against weyane. However, the news is a little fabricated since it is just wants to gain a poor popularity by saying that more Ogadians were participated than Ethiopias while the fact that first of all, the no. of people has not counted on both sides, secondly it was very obvious that we all saw the Ethiopians who were flaging Ethiopian flag were highly dominated that the Ethiopians who claimed to be Ogadians and flag thier un decleared flag.

Our great and intelligent leader, Meles Zenawi has caught the attention of the international community since he is the most outstanding leader in Africa. He has always taught the intelligent and superior people of Tigray that the Amharas are our enemies and do not like the people of Tigray.

Well,you can’t teach an old dog a new trick. the days of waving banners and chanting slogans are here to stay. As far as i am concerned, the expected “huge demonstration ” at the G20 summit by diaspora Ethiopians was not successful. The demonstrators were kept far away from the world leaders views that i doubt anyone paid attention to them. There was no in depth coverage by the main stream media other than the few minutes clip from BBC and CNN. It was also sad to see ethnic oriented groups upstaging “one Ethiopia” demonstrators.
The so-called militant elements in Ethiopian politics have failed us miserably. Take EPRP and GINBOT7 for example. My question to EPRP is, how long will you be collecting membership fees from whatever members you have got left without lifting a finger? Why don’t you step up to the plate and backup your rhetoric? My advice to GINBOT7 is “talk is cheap”. You have to lead by example. If say a couple of the leadership got arrested for a simple defying act like a sit-in, that would have been a motivating factor for the rest of diaspora Ethiopians to show more gusto. Come on guys! Time is a changing.

The demonstrations and protests against the brutal ethnic dictatorship of Meles Zenawi should continue unabated. Ethiopians back home are suppressed and can not dare stage any kind of protest. The opposition is coward to challenge the TPLF rule. I wonder why the old and aging leaders of the opposition are not following in the foot steps of the young Birtukan in defying the TPLF. The old leaders of UDJP seem to have abandoned her and the struggle and preoccupied with their businesses to make money. I think it is time for Dr. Yacob Hailemariam to quit politics and concentrate only on his poultry business. He is not strong enough to challenge and stand against the TPLF and take any risk. He has a kind of divided loyalty and is not fit for the kind of struggle needed to oust Meles Zenawi.

Although Meles Zenawi the Ethiopian Prime Minister and also current NEPAD chair was here, he abruptly cancelled a press conference he was about to give. His people gave no reasons for this. But insiders in the press centre said Zenawi was worried about the kind of questions that were going to be put to him concerning human rights violations within Ethiopia and his dealing with his opponents and Ethiopia’s neighbours.

First of all this meeting is not about Ethiopia, it is about the big 20 countries. Your demonstration has not relevance to this meeting.
Our problems need to be resolved among us, this big leaders will laugh at you. They invited Meles to their meeting because he is super intelligent and smart man. Your cry will not bring anything to the country. I know most of you came to vacation in London after saving for a year. You should have used the many you spending for your poor family or if you really love your country should have donated it.

Meles Zenawi did well. Demostrations should be only in the interest of Ethiopia.Demonstrate against Shaebya, ONLF and OLF too. Meles and co. are far better than Shaebya, ONLF or OLF.
We have to be nationalists and support Meles when he works for Ethiopia like finacing big rejects by getting money from IMF. We should only stand against Meles and co., when they stand against the strategic interest of our country like landlocking Ethiopia or seceding sovereign Ethiopian territory to Sudan.
Do not sympathize with the secessionist forces. We have to disband OLF, ONLF and other secessionist groups. We have to stand for the unity of Ethiopia in our struggle. Do not accept the secession of Eritra. Show to the world that Eritrea belongs to Ethiopia. Ethiopia has never been landlocked. Christianity came to Ethiopia through the Red Sea, Queen Sheba went to Israel through the Red Sea. King Kaleb conquered Arabia and Yemen by using the Red Sea. The Red Sea is part of Ethiopia as is Ethiopia part of it.You should have demonstrated against the secession of Eritrea from Ethiopia.
