Tedla Asfaw (16 Mar 2009) The Ethiopian tyrant who currently chairs the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) and other eleven countries from Africa most represented by minsters were in London meeting with Gordon Brown to beg the “rich” countries of G20 not to forget Africa in their coming April meeting in London.
The tyrant of Ethiopia, Meles Zenawi, recently on record told his sleepy parliament that the world crisis has no impact to his country because Ethiopia’s economy is not linked with the rich nations economy. Why then now crying for money and scared his host that no money means violence in Africa ?
So what happened in the last few months for Meles to declare that if we do not get financial help, some countries surely he means Ethiopia among others will be under and Africa will be in chaos. He warned also that the cost of violence will be much higher than the cost of giving funds now. Why did the G20 care if there is violence in Africa ? When is the last time we read or heard that Africa is in economic progress and prosperity ?
Here is what is going to happen in April in London. Gordon Brown will do the follow up of Tony Blair’s “African Commission” of the early 2000 on which Meles served and will establish a commission for “Stimulating African Economy” , ” African Stimulant Commission”, of course Meles Zenawi is a member, loves to be on stage. I wish he has permanent job on one of the never ending shows on Broadway and give his place for fellow African.
The defunct African Commission of Tony Blair as we all know had not produced any result and nothing different is expected from the “Stimulant Commission”. The fund Meles will collect will help him keep his apartheid rule for the coming years beside paying his Chinese creditors.
How can a tyrant who put more than ten millions of people currently on foreign food aid and who is a known human right abuser will be allowed to represent Africa on April 2, G20 gathering in London ? That is a big insult to Africa. This is the man who is working closely with the Darfur butcher, Al-Beshir , committed similar crimes in Gambella and Ogaden. I have no doubt that his secret mission is also to lobby on behalf of Al-Beshir by arguing that the cost of peace in Sudan VS the cost of indicting Al-Beshir.
Melws Zenawi’s appetite for cash by giving away large areas of western Ethiopia to Sudan and leasing our land for anyone with cash show that this man care less for his people and running on greed and treason. This guy has enough stimulant and do not deserve extra juice to compensate for his lose abroad from the world economic downturn.
Yes indeed, Meles and his inner circle lost money from “their investment” in foreign market. However, this is Ethiopian stolen money and we want it to be audited by independent auditors. Yes it is true also that countries who have big economic downturn will cut giving financial aid to other poor countries.
However, throwing money to African tyrants for the last fifty years haven’t produced any development for our continent. The scare tactics of Meles Zenawi that violence will increase and countries will be under is the same judgement he used and send soldiers to “liberate Somalia from Alshabab” two years ago and after huge cost of human lives, we are now where we were before the invasion. The person who was behind this crime is now on world stage thanks to Gordon Brown.
It is a disgrace for Africa that we have the likes of Al-Beshir and Meles Zenawi. The difference is Al-Beshir had served Western interest in destroying Ethiopia and Meles is still on their payroll to enslave and mortgage the continent of Africa.

Excellent analysiss, Ethiopian in Eruope mobilized and come in massess to humilate Meles in front of G20 on April 2. Western countries stop petty aid to Africa instead invest in the country for economic improvment of the people not in dictators..
Down with tyrannt Meles & CO.

Thank you Mr. Tedla. You raised very significant questions. Well, it is really sad to see all the conspiracy.

I consider this person a HERO.

The child killer Meles is psychopatic liar. Last week he said that our economy escaped the great risk and we are now cleaning it…”. Now he is telling Gordon Brown that we are endangered if the developed countries support Africa. Is it referring to Ethiopia or not. he said Ethiopia is not endangered, for which country he is speaking? What a pathological liar he is! In fact, he has been lying much more than this for the last 18 years!

We, Ethiopians, i think have lost our country and citizenship for good(i am afraid) to this minority group led by Meles and American-British-Egypt geopolitical strategy!!
We let our country go to demise mainly because we are COWARDS, period. We accepted like a sheep to being led to a slaughter house one by one for the last 17 years and going, oh, what a god fearing and peaceful people we are!
Oh, our opposition political leaders are high caliber intelectuals they are still busy analysing to avoid collateral damage to life and property.
In the light of all these, not OBAMA, not Clinton, not Gordon Brown.. will havea place to us Ethiopians, because they know, we are god fearing and peacful cowards!! They have rather a place to a Somaly Pirates.
Please, stop all sort of analysis and accept who we are, COWARDS!!

Tedla,
shame on you! You are at New York, bringing a bunch of fabriacated alligations at UFJ and G7, while you urge Ethio-European to stand against meles.
First of all, you should stand against any dectatators including hailu shawel(AEUP) and iyasu alemayehu(EPRP), whom are the worst group of people whom are power and money mongers. These are the two destructive groups that has killed the ethiopians more than weyane.
You know if hailu shawel did not kill the struggle among EPRP which happend to had your own bad contribution, weyane would not stayed until now.
Any way first you should stand from New York against EPRP/AEUP, then join the the unity of ethiopians.
Actually, the Ethiopians in europe have already ready to stand against Meles Sytanwawi and they are planning to show their anger for leaders of G20. In that regard i admire those ethiopians who are ready to show thier anger against meles and his self controlled company TPLF.
DEATH TO ALL WEYANE MEMBERS AND BLIND SUPPORTERS, OF COURSE DEATH TO HODAM SUPPORTERS TOO
March 17th, 2009 at 5:18 pm
Hi, you are right, I feel the same way. The reason is not about the current government the reason is that within ourselves we can’t unite and sacrifice for Ethiopia. We cannot unite because Weyane made sure of 17 years of its rule that the people not unite by putting us against one another example, OLF and ONLF, Tigreans vs the rest of Ethiopians. It is very difficult. We also have outside enemies such as Shaebia who do not want us to unite because for the fear that it is the end of their sovereignty so, if people unite, Weyane and Shaeba will be the best of friends trust me. How do we transform this coward feeling? I don’t know. Is anyone has better idea they can come up with?
March 17th, 2009 at 6:25 pm
Mr. or Mrs. “Hi”. I understand your frustration. We have not been fighting as we should, dying a little, being wounded a little bit, sacrificing a little bit. Well the time has come, we are fignting, the world is changing, we shall win and have Meles and his group hanged one by one. They are humans hiding behind tanks and guns. We will take it away and make them rise never again. We will do this for our people, for nation and our own dignity as Ethiopians. But please contribute what you can.
Your brother.

Let’s just observe peoples and thier political leaders with in almost a matter of this year in Africa and Asia,
1) Kenya: thier vote was stolen, thier opposition leaders took thier ground without thinking about collateral damage to life and property and they won. They are not cowards!!!
2)Zimbabwe: the same thing as Kenya and they won. Because they are not cowards!!!
3)Madagascar:Just a day ago, a mayor of the capital city took his ground with out thinking a collatoral damage to life and property and he succecded. They are not cowards!!!
4)Pakistan: In a far away land, the opposition took its ground and it won, they are not cowards!!!
IT IS ONLY IN ETHIOPIA AND NOWHERE ELSE IN THIS PLANET EARTH SUCH A RUGTAG PEASANT MINORITY GROUP TO LEAD THE MAJORITY TO ITS DEMISE WITHOUT A SIGNIFICANT RESISTANT!!
AND ITS A SHAME!!!

Ato Tedla, Your analysis on zenawi and the current situation is excellent.
But We all have one life to live in this planet and zenawi and his cronies also have the same thing.
In the near future, He’ zenawi’ will pay the price for all his crimes.
Great work Ato Tedla

This is an excellent piece. Is anyone taking the next step of mobilizing African groups to campaign against Meles representing the continent in international forums? Europeans who continue to make a respectable leader out of the little dictator are no doubt insulting Africa saying the continent could neither produce nor deserve a leader better than despots like Meles. We should work in collaboration with other groups from Africa to stop Meles from continuing to enjoy international leader stature while destroying Ethiopia and Africa. The right panel for Meles is the International Criminal Court to face the charges against him for crimes committed against humanity.

A few years back Tony Blair praised Meles Zenawi as a young democrat. The ungrateful midget proved him wrong and *ucked him where the sun don’t shine. Tony was shocked with Zenawi’s atrocities that he refused to sit next to him in one occasion. Now Gordy(Gordon Brown) has the audacity to invite the same cold blooded killer to the G20 meeting. Has Britain gone bonkers lately?
The following was posted on New York Times last week. “A senior Obama administration official said Thursday that The United States was puzzeled by Britain’s announcement last week that it was re-establishing contact with the political wing of the militant group Hezbollah. The United States, the official said, wanted Britain to explain the difference between the political, social and military wing of Hezbollah because we don’t see the difference between the integrated leadership that they see.”
We, Ethiopians also have some questions to ask of Britain or Mr. Gordon Brown. Are you starting a new trend of re-establishing contact with murderers? If so, shall we resurrect Hitler from the grave so you can re-establish contact with him? would Churchill condone your stupidity if he was alive today? You have pounded Robert Mugabe for years because he dared to take away land from white settlers and gave to native Africans. As far as crimes against humanity is concerned, Mugabe is an angel in comparison to Zenawi. I am puzzled just like the Obama official and want to ask one more question. What is the difference between Meles Zenawi and Omar Hassan al-Bashir ?Let me give you a hint. Aside from their killing reputation, one is a “house nigger” serving his masters in the west and the other is not. Get the picture?!

A weak and disorganized opposition has allowed Meles Zenawi to appear strong and remain in control of political power. Just some weeks ago the leaders of genbot7 were telling us that they would go into action soon and make Meles Zenawi the last dictator in the country. Still we are waiting for the moment when any opposition force starts the real struggle against the ethnic dictator. Our demonstrations and other International actions should be backed up by visibile protests and other forms of strikes on the ground in Ethiopia. There is only little we can do from exile in the west. There are already enough opposition parties operating from exile but have done little to push the struggle forward.
March 18th, 2009 at 9:24 am
Meles Zenawe and his party staying in power and will stay in power, because of our opposition fronts weakeness. The opposition front devided and weaken from within by tribal infighting and mistrust within our the opposition organizations it self. Unless we address these nonsense irrational ethnic divisions and understand our common interest to unite us and diversfy the leadership of the opposition, there will never be no strong opposition that may shake Meles Zenawe`s regime.

aschenake,
The problem in ethiopia is greater than simple political opposition, for the last 100+ years, most of the education was discriminatelly given to Amhara regions and to amharas tribe only, and that created stratification of socioeconomic imbalance, which in result created one tribe of Ethiopians as automatic rulling class, while disadvantaging and placing the other tribes of ethiopians in the lower economic ladder as the rulled class.
