Journalists under attack

Dawit kebede EMF — [VOA Interview with Dawit] [The news in Amharic] Journalists Dawit Kebede, publisher of awramba times, and the editor Wondirad Debretsion are charged today by Zenawi’s persecutors, the senior editor Fitsum Mamolet told EMF. The charges include “Inciting the public through false rumors”. Our source also said that the journalists were getting  serious telephone threats by the security agents for publishing report about Dr. Berhanu Nega, leader of the newly formed Ginbot 7 movement for democracy and justice. .

The two are also charged for publishing interview with Dr. Yacob Hailemariam. On its yesterday issue, the paper has published Dr. Berhanu’s comment on how Ethiopians should learn from the USA elections. It was a transcribed comment of Dr. Berhanu Nega on the Voice of America. The prosecutor filed charges against the journalists based on article 486 of the criminal code.

The prosecutors considered it as crimes against the security of the state (articles 240,257(e) and 261(a).

      የስው ልጀ ዛሬ መብቱ ተገፎ የመናገርም ይህውን የመጸፍ መብት የሌለበት አገር እስከመቸነው እንደዚህ እያለ የሚቀጥለው???/ወያኔ/ ይህ የምትስሩት ግፍ በህዝባችን ላይ መቸም የማይረሳ ከትውል ትውልድ የሚተላለፍ ቂም ነው ፡ ለሁሉም ግዜ አለው አለም ተቀያያሪ ናት ይህን የስልጣን ቦታ ነገ ልታጡት ትችላላቹ ያኔ ወዴት ነው መግቢያቹ?በኋይል በጐልበት በውሽትኝነት የሚሆን ነገር የለም ስለዚህ አቶ ዳዊት ከበደን የመጸፍ የመናገር የኢትዮጵያዊነት መብቱ ነው ማንም ሆነማ መብቱን መንፈግ አይችልም፡ ወያኔ ያቀረባችሆት ምክንያት ይህን ግለስብ ሊያስጠይቀው አይችልም እውነት ካለው ተስሚነት ያገኛል እውነት ከሌለው ደግሞ ተናግሮ ይቀራል ፡ ዳዊት ወይም ሌላ ኢትዮጵዊ እንደዚ አት ጸፍ ብትሎ የሰልጣን ጊዛችን ይራዘማል ብላቹ ካስባቹ ተሳስታችሃል እንዲውም እድሚያችሆን ነው የሚያሳጥረው

      ehadig’s paranoia boggles the mind. everything that dr. berhanu said on VOA was heard by the millions of ethiopians throughout the country who listen to the amharic VOA broadcasts anyways. and to call these “false rumours”? hysterical, really.

      keep up the good work Dawit! your bravery is noted!

      The strong news paper in Ethiopia currently is Awramba times.the paper is challenging and headek for the woyane mafia group.as my observation, the journalists who working in awramba times are not under the shade of fear despite they arrested for two years and constantly harrased by security forces.they are the main patriots for FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION.
      they are really journalists.we Ethiopia people will never forget their favour for ever.

      በጣም የሚገርመዉ ነገር አሁን ያለውን ህግ ራሱ ዳኞች መተርጎም ስለማይችሉት ነገሩ ወደ ካድሬዎች ክሄደ በኋላ ማብራሪያ ወይም መተማመኛ ቃል ካገኙ በኋላ ብቻ ነዉ የሚፈርዱት :ይህንንም የሚያረጉበት ምክንያት ህጉ ትክክለኛ እንዳልሆነ ስለሚያዉቁና አንድቀን ቀን እንደሚጨልም ስለሚያዉቁ ያ የሚመጣዉ መንግስት ለፍርድ እንዳያቀርባቸዉ ስለሚፈሩ ነዉ :: ጋዜጠኛ ባሁኑ ጊዜ በአሉባልታ ማሰር ማለት ራስን በአለም መንግስታት ፊት ለፍርድ ማቅረብ ክመሆኑ የተነሳ መንግስት ለመቀበሪያው የሚቆፍረዉን ጉድጓድ ያፋጥነዋል በሌላ በኩል ደግሞ የኢትዮጵያ ጋዜጠኞች በአለም ፊት በብዕራቸዉ ታንከን የታጠቀ መንግስትን ለማዉረድ በሚያደርጉት ትግል ይስክብራቸዋል
