By VOA News - 16 October 2008 –Heavy fighting has broken out in Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu, leaving at least 18 people dead, many of them civilians.
The fighting began when insurgents attacked African Union and Ethiopian troops Thursday, drawing retaliatory fire. During the battle, heavy artillery hit the populous Bakara Market.
The fighting also drew in forces from the transitional Somali government. The government is backed by Ethiopia, which is believed to have more than 10,000 troops in the country.
Thursday, Ethiopia’s prime minister dismissed opposition calls for a timetable to withdraw his country’s troops from Somalia.
Addressing parliament, Meles Zenawi, said troops would remain in Somalia until a credible international force can take over and Somalia’s stability is assured.
Ethiopian troops entered Somalia in 2006 to help the government oust an Islamist movement that had seized power throughout much of the country.
U.N.-backed reconciliation talks between the Somali government and some of its opponents have achieved little, while a bloody Islamist insurgency rages on.
In New York Tuesday, a U.N. official said the Somali government and opposition groups would meet for a third round of talks October 25-26 in Djibouti.
The official, Amadou Oul Abdallah, also said the U.N. and World Bank are planning a donor conference to assist Somalia, where millions are in need of aid because of fighting and drought. He said a preliminary meeting for the conference will take place Monday in Stockholm.

Meles Zenawi is a blood thirsty dictator and will continue to shed the blood of Ethiopians and Somalis. Ethiopians have been disunited and fallen easy victims to the fascist Meles Zenawi. Meles Zenawi has been killing Ethiopians with impunity and in the same token entered Somalia to kill and destroy. However, the Somlis are brave and courageous people and will certainly avenge their loss. The TPLF army is paying heavy prices in Somalia. The EPLF is hitting and punishing the TPLF well in Somalia. The loser Meles Zenawi is retreating and pulling out of Somalia. They will pursue Meles Zenawi even up to Mekelle and hit or eliminate him. Meles Zenawi and his TPLF thugs will learn the hardest way. The war will come to their home in Mekelle or any where they may try to hide. The other bad news for the feeding cadres and followers of Meles Zenawi is the crisis in the west can dry up the source of foreign money they have been cashing in on. No foreign money means almost total danger of collapse of the ethnic dictatorship of Meles Zenawi since his cadres and spies will abandon the regime. So Meles Zenawi is besieged and is in panic. No or few dollars to stuff the bellies of his followers and cadres.

With the financial crisis in the west, the cadres and followers of Meles Zenawi have every reason to be worried. Meles Zenawi`s cadres are very expensive and gourmand and used to leadig very luxurious lives. Without dollars from the west, the herd of Meles Zenawi`s cadres would not be maintained and they would disband. For Example the known large bellied cadres of Meles Zenawi like GOSHU, AIGA`s Editors,the person using the alias Getachew Mequanent and benyam Kebede are dollar cadres and their service is paid in dollars. Look their payment comes from the money collected in the name of the Ethiopian poor. It means these ethnic cadres are sucking the blood of the Ethiopian poor.

በእውነቱ የሶማሊያን ጦርነት ያባባሰው የኢትዮፒያ ጣልቃ ገብነት ነው. ኢትዮፒያ ከመግባትውዋ በፊት ለስምንት ወር የገዛው የኢስላሚስቱ መንግስት ሶማሊያ ላይ ታይቶ የማይታወክ ሰላም አስፍኖ እንደነበረ የአደባባይ ዘና ነበር. የህን የአካባቢውን ሰላም የማይፈልጉ ምራባዊያን በተለይ አሚሪካ ሰላሙን በአስሽከርውዋ ወያኒ አደፍርሰዋለች. ይህም በሁልቱ ኢህትማማች ሃገሮች ላይ ይህ ነው የማይባል የታሪክ ጠባሳ ትሎ ያልፋል.
