14 February 2009, EMF – The blaze, which started early yesterday, burned down Zegie Giorgis, one of Ethiopian ancient churches in Tana Island. Zegie Giorgis was one of the most famous monasteries in Tana. The church, which was built in 1292, featured priceless historical documents and paintings.
The fire could not have been contained because the church is located in the island and far from Bahir Dar fire station. So it seems that the fire raged unabated. Crowds gathered and watched in horror as the flames tore through the roof of the church, and destroyed the interior, gutting historical items dating back to 13th century. At last, the Ethiopian Air Force crew successfully controlled the fire from expanding to other nearby churches.
The Bishop of the region, Abune Bernabas said: “It’s destroyed. No conclusions had been reached about the cause and that it would be unwise to jump to conclusions. Human and God’s judgment is different. Let us give the judgment to the almighty God.”
The various entities are working with the parish priest and the local community to determine the future of the church. Today, the church also requested help for the restoration.
EMF reporter from Ethiopia added, “most of historical document and the ‘tabot’ (covenant) are hidden underground, and excavation has been started today”.
There are 37 islands on the source of Nile River, Lake Tana and 30 of them have churches and monasteries of considerable historical and cultural interest. The 13th century Monastery of ZegieGiorgis was one of the monasteries, which most frequently used to be visited by tourists. Zegie is located in north-west Ethiopia about 15 kilometers from Bahir Dar by boat or 32 kilometers by road during the dry season.

Here is my replay for those,who made a habit of rationalizing to every crime acted by the antisocial Legese.I am making the following autrageous statment:although, my intention is not to devide ,yet, I must state the facts directly. Look, how many times we have been warned by those who are conserned about the need to save Ethiopia.One of the reasons for lack of resolve is ,purhaps, the arogant behavior and I know it all atitude of the urbanite Ethios.I remember when the news about the transfer of land in the western part of the country to the Sudan was out,Some,notably those, from Gondar insist they must stand and fight,many opposed to this idea by saying the future government of the people will demand the return of the ceded land:to this callous crowed there seems to be no end to their rationalization.
It is not fun denounce Mr.Legese,as the one who sell his mama and found committing the very crime they condemen in others.It it is practically impossible to reach a consensus for a collective action,as long as the do nothing crowed among us cantinue to derail the plan of the rest.As in the past,here is an issue that can unite both the Gonderians and Gojes,for they are directly affected by it.Let me make myself clear,I care not for the urbanites tirade which often runs in this lines-this is every Ethiopian consern not just the residents of Goje and Gondar.I plea to all ,inparticular to those of the above mentioned citizens, please let us stand and do what is expected of us.I can assure you GOD is on the side of the opperssed. If you agree on this idea we might arrange for discussion forums where ever we are.The list of problem is endless:the border land transfer to the Sudan, land for sell deal to foreigners,the proposed auction of the London ethio.embassy,the burning of churches.etc.Why are this heinous crims tolerated by the people? cowardice is a mental malady that can turn the rational person in to robatic machine:it must not be permitted to suck the vitality of life from any one.After all there is but one life to to live.I am convinced Legese has deep seated psycholigical problem.He could fit the profile of anti social,which is characterized as criminal,egocentrist,remorsless.Inadition,such persons are known to be ,deceptive,impuslive,irrisponsible.We are dealing with one who is helplessly sick,for this reason I dont belive rational approach to this equation will be a solution.What is needed now os initiation of well thought out plan of national resistanse ,that involves those who are committed to salvage Ethiopia,through sacrfice. I believe when this irrationl approach is adapted, we will likely see some results.once this threshhold is reached,we can expect an irruption,crack and a fall out from some elements of its followers.Please let us not resort to our usual rationalization.Let meetings be arranged in the area we live.

የትኛው ቃላት መስመር ነው ያስበረገገህ (ያስፎከረህ)! የትኛው ዓረፍተነገር ነው ካህናትን የሚሰድብ? ይልቅ አንተ “ወዳይ እንደርታ” ቄስ ደብር አካባቢ ነው ያደኩት ካህናትን አንትካብኝ , አባቶችን አትንካብኝ ብለህ ካልክ በኋላ , ግብረገብነትህና ቀንዓዊነትህ ከዱህ መሰለኝ በስድብ ዘለፍከኝ ; ዕርግጥ በቅጡ የጻፍኩትን አንብበህዋል?

በሃገራችን ኢትዮጵያ ውስጥ ያለው የመከላከያ ኃይል: በስልጣን ላይ ያለውን ፋሽስት ቡድን በአምባገነንነቱ እንዲቆይ በዘረኝነት መዋቅር ተቀምጦ ሕዝባችንን በጥይት: ድንበራችንን እየፈረመ ለጎረቤት ሃገር እየፈረመ የሚያስረክብ ወታደራዊ ፋሽስት ወያኔ ነው:: ” የኢትዮጵያ ” ሳይሆን ተብሎ የሚጠራው:- የወያኔ ተብሎ ነውና andnet berhane ደጋግሞ ማሰብ የሚጠይቅ ጉዳይ አይደለም:: መላው ኢትዮጵያውያን ምን መባል እንዳለበት እና መደረግ ያለበትን ጠንቅቀው ያውቃሉ::
በኮርያና በኮንጎ የተባበሩት መንግስታትን ወክለው የዘመቱት ወታደሮቻችን ከመላው ኢትዮጵያ እንደየችሎታቸው ወታደራዊ መስፈርቶችን አሟልተው የተቀጠሩ እንጂ: እንደ ፋሽስት ወያኔ ” ከትግራይ ” ብቻ የተመለመሉ አዛዦችን ያስቀመጠ አካል አልነበረምና:: የሚያደርግ ለውድ እናት ሃገሩ ይነግራታል በተግባርም ይንቀሳቀሳል:: በምስጢር ሳይሆን በግልጽ:: ወያኔን መንግሎ ለመጣል በግልጽ ስንንቀሳቀስ እንጂ:- ውስጥ ለውስጥ የቤት መስሪያ ቦታና ከረሃብተኛው ወገን ወያኔ ነጥቆ ሆዳቸውን እየሞሉ ተቃዋሚ ነኝ በማለት ትንሽ ተቃውመው በሁለት ፊት የሚንቀሳቀሱትን እናት አለም ኢትዮጵያ አትፈልጋቸውም::የግንቦት 7 የፍትህ የነጻነትና የዲሞክራሲ ንቅናቄ አላማም በግልጽ እንደተቀመጠው ኢትዮጵያ ሃገራችንን ሕዝቧን እና ሉአላዊነትዋን ለማስከበር ” ወያኔውን ወያኔ: ፋሽስቱንም ፋሽስት: እንዲሁም ሃገሩንና ሕዝቡን ነጻ ለማውጣት ለፍትህ ለነጻነትና ለዲሞክራሲ የሚታገለውን ወገን ” በርታ እንበርታ በማለትና በማንኛውም ቦታ ሕዝብ በተገኘበት በትሰበሰበበት በግል ስንገናኝና ልክ እንደዚህ እንደ ኢትዮፎረም በመሳሰሉትና ሌሎችም ማህበራዊና ሚዲያዎች ማንኛውም ቦታና በግልጽ ስለወያኔ ማንነት በመናገርና በማስረዳት ወገኖቻችንን ስለሃገራችን በግልጽ እንነጋገራለን:: ስለግንቦት 7 አላማም በግልጽ እናስረዳለን::
andnet berhane, በዚህ ኢትዮፎረም የምንነጋገረውም ወያኔውን ወያኔ: ኢትዮጵያዊውንም ” ኢትዮጵያዊ እያልን ነውና የኢትዮጵያ አየርኃይል ሳይሆን ኢትዮጵያ ውስጥ ያለው:- ” የበቀለው ጃርቱ ወያኔውና የእጅ አዙር ደጋፊዎቹ ናቸው::
” ኢትዮጵያ ” የሚለው ስም ሊገባ የሚችለው” ለኢትዮጵያ ” የቆሙ ወገኖች ብቻ ናቸው::
