Breaking news: 13 June 2008 — The leaders of Unity for Democracy and Justice Party (UDJ) were told today by the Imperial Hotel that they cannot conduct their meeting on Saturday, sources said. [Listen to the following interview with Eng. Gizachew Shiferaw with Kinijit North America PR on this matter here.] Few minutes after posting the news, EMF source confirmed that Meles Zenawi regime has forced Imperial Hotel to cancel the pre-scheduled meeting. Kinijit/UDJP General assembly will be held in another location which has been arranged as a back up meeting hall. The place is not made known for security reasons, EMF source added.

This is exactly the type of leadership and dedication Ethiopians expect from their leaders. My hats off to Engineer Gizachew and associates, facing the beast face to face. This is the way to beat Woyanie in its own game. No matter what happens tomorrow, Woyanie is clearly exposed and the designated loser.
UDJP, stay on course and continue to be TPLF’s worst headache and we are 100% with you. We have enough demagogues roaming Europe and America that have specialized in cursing the TPLF from a safe distance, in Cafes and 4th rate meeting rooms a profession. Eng. Gizachew audio message addresses as the meeting place might be changed as an alrenative (Ofcourse, if woyane sends agazi force the diplomats will be the first hand eyewitness).
Can you please modify your title as the place might be changed, not as cancelled?

the spirt of Kinijit/Andent lives on, Woyane can not scare hotel operators to prevent the true leaders of Ethiopia to meet. The coward Woyane could not face Andenet but goes behind scareing hotel operators.
Woyane does not qulify to lead that is why it is rejected.

UDJ Update from Ethiopia
UDJ CONGRESS BANNED !
At about 4 o’clock pm today, the police told Unity for Democracy and Justice (UDJ)—former CUDP—that it cannot hold its Founding Congress which was scheduled to be held at the Imperial Hotel, tomorrow, Saturday, June 14, 2008. Their excuse is that we do not have prior permission for holding a public gathering. Peaceful assembly is guaranteed by the Ethiopian Constitution. There is no law that requires obtaining prior permission for indoor gathering. The hotel reservation was made over two weeks ago. The Hotel Management had informed the relevant authorities on the details of the gathering – a usual practice – over a week ago and were told that it could go ahead as scheduled. Then, suddenly, there came this ban on a Friday, at the end of the day’s working hours, followed by a weekend. We believe that this was a deliberate measure calculated to prevent the Congress from taking place. It is an illegal measure that violated our constitutional right. Over 400 delegates were to attend the Congress at the Imperial Hotel. Two-thirds of these delegates have come from the Regions. The rest are from Addis. UDJ had spent over four months painstakingly preparing for this Congress. The preparation started with the gathering of founding-members signatures from throughout the country, the preparation of documents such as the Programme and Bylaw and the selection of delegates. We started our preparations with the full knowledge of the National Electoral Board. We have invested about 300,000 birr on this Congress and on various preparations leading to it. We are examining several options on what to do next. One of the options is to hold the Congress in-house: on the premises of our office. The space available is very limited, weather condition is not favorable. We may have to make drastic adjustments in our programme such as limiting activities, without affecting vital ones, and extending the meeting by a half day. We see the present obstacle before us as a challenge. The Congress will be held, if not tomorrow, then soon.

The problem with Ethiopian Diaspora or (Cyber warriors) is that they like to squable their valuable time: talk, talk and talk. Now, why is it important whether the meeting was “Cancelled” or “Changed”? The point is UDJ did not change/cancel the meeting. It was done by the master of all tricks -the Weyane!!!

This is an ugly and irresponsible lithium test planned by the politically bankrupted Meles to see what the leaders of UDJ would do and respond in this kind of situations. He knows deep in his blood thirsty heart, that they are courageous and would sacrfice not only their blood and also their soul if the need be, for the struggle to install a democratic sytstem for their people of Ethiopia. They have proved themselves before and would prove it once more again this time. Woyane would be held for any negative consequence that might surface because of the provocation that it has started as usual. UDJ leaders go ahead and make this cowardice Meles pee in his pants.

We have had several meetings in Addis but no need of permission. Every week and month there are Edir, Ekub, workshop, seminars and other meetings and no authority asks permission.
The government action is provocative and illegal. This shows how much it gonna be difficult and painstacking peacefull struggle. People are denied to exercise their basic human and constitutional rights.
UDJP needs patience and commitment to deal with such vicious dictator. Actual the looser the Meles regime for doing such silly things

Ekub and Edir has never been a danger ,rather he uses them to creat consumer protection ass!.. wrkshp and seminar in Ethiopia is for ‘weloabel!’, .. so no danger..¨the govt action is legal but he did it the way he likes it….that is open secret!
..the problem is no smart party or person tried to understand and act systematicaly winning him..even a lawer like Birtukan!
