The Dutch chapter of Amnesty International has launched a campaign for the release of Birtukan Mideksa. Members of Amnesty Netherlands are campaigning to get as many petitions as possible before the dead line (1 December 2009). Birtukan Mideksa, the charismatic leader of UDJ, is being held in solitary confinement serving a life sentence. Please sign a petition to Mr. Louis Michel European Union Commissioner for Development and Humanitarian Aid to use all diplomatic means for the freedom of Birtukan Mideksa. Dear Exellance, m/s Mideksa, Bertukan is one of the very few young Ethiopian-African who dedcated to the basic human voice and democratic right of the new genaration in Ethiopia. She is the symbol of all womans equalty. She is in the hand of unjusted and under 18 years tyrantand crimnal Malese Zenaw. Please help in realesing her! That is great! Birtukan Mideksa is a symbol of Ethiopian freedom. Election in Ethiopia without her being release is unthinkable. Birtukan Mideksa sent to jail by Meles just because she spoke the truth. Now, the remaining political parties, if they are a real opposition to the evil Meles regime, they should not think about participating in the election without Birtukan Medeksa being released. If Birtukan remains in jail, there is no guaranty that they will not join her in Qality when they speak the truth.
Bitukan’s freedom is freedom to all political party leaders to all of us who support them. If we are not free, how can we participate in an election?

Those were the liberating words of a true leader speaking about the imprisonment of Birtukan Mediksa and others like her. Thank you Amnesty International for remaining the sole keeper of conscious and fight against barbaric regimes like Ethiopian dictator Meles Zenawi.

Guys, when things become tough, I am sure The Devil will release her. But, by the time she will be released, it will be too late to challenge this top criminal in the up coming election. Even if she wins, do you think he will accept defeat this time? He will never as his past crimes are too much to ignore. Please read what G/Medhin Araya has been posting in the Ethiomedia website. It is very shocking!
In short, he may release her soon but it is only to cool down the anger. That is it! He will never give up that power to her or anybody else except may be to his cronies.

Birtukan Midkesa is a promising leader. Her speech was very inspiring. We should press the International Community for her release. Ethiopia should be free of fascists and dictators. It is really ridiculous to imprison somebody beause she happens to haave another opinion. \i would not mind if Mesfin Woldemariam, Hailu Shawel or Hailu Araya are imprisoned because they were henchmen of Mengistu. But to incacrate an innocent lady because of her political ambitions or convictions is unacceptabel,
Birtukan should be realsed immediately.
