I would like to thank the editor of this website for posting this news. It is this way that we can manage to get rid of this evil regime. When one is bleeding the other has to feel irrespective of our differences.
Woyane has made all Oromo artists its main enemy. Almost all have escaped persecution and became refugees in foreign countries. Many are still in prison. Few of those who have been killed by the regime are:
1)Ebbisa Adunya, killed in Finfinnee in 19996
2) Usmayyo Musa, arrested in 19995, severely tortured and developped a permannent damage in prison, eventually died soon after his release 2006
3) Hime Yusuf, killed in 1997 in Hararge
4) Kulani Boru (female vocalist), killed in 1997 in Hararge
5) Bonsiso Calla, Killed in 1992
6) Hordofa Barento (traditional dancer), killed in 1992
7) Sabontu Barentu (female vocalist), killed in 1997 in Bale
8) Ayantu Borana (female dancer), killed in 1997 in Bale
In addition, few of the Oromo artists who have been abducted and disappeared include:
Jirenya Ayana (1996), Basha Hussein (female, 1999), Fufa Dhuguma (19997), Darartu Bona (female, 1997), Abdulhakim Shefis (1997), Adem Wake (1997).
Woyane thinks it can stop the struggle of the Oromo people against its brutal rule by killing and harassing certain conscious members of the society, but this will only intensify the struggle of the subjugated people, including Oromo, for justice and freedom.

I do not know what we are waiting for. They killed Ahamara , killed Ogadenians, killed Oromos, killed killed ………….. . Took our land and gave to Sudan. Killing brings only the rising of all the oppressed people. If weyane kills then the Ogadenians may say no Ethiopia more. The information I have from my weyane neighbors is that if it does not work they want an independent Tigre. These people know shame. At this time the wayanes are so desperate and they have already knew that they are not in a position to fight only using TPLF soldiers. You know, for Oromos, being tortured, killed, and put in jail has been our day-to-day experience under woyane. Woyane’s atrocities against these brave artists will bear 100s of new heroes! This is what woyane never understands.
What is new is that in the past, woyane managed to confuse the rest of Ethiopian people. Thus, no Ethiopian media outlet were reporting the atrocities committed against us. Sadly, even the the vicious Killing of Ebissa Adugna in broad daylight was not reported. Better yet, even the EHRCO of professor Mesfin was not reporting any of these.
Today is a different day! I am happy to see that Ethiopian media outlets such as the EMF reporting the crimes against the Oromos. This will definitely bring us more closer. I hope you guys are also coming to the understanding that one of the reasons for the Oromos to take more extreme positions were because of total disregard of the oromo plight by Ethiopian media and Ethiopian human right activists and organizations.

First of all, I don’t think any body should be thrown to jail just because that person sings a song. That is just a way of expression, and it is basic human right. I don’t pretend to know these two singers and I don’t pretend to know everything that they did. Nevertheless, I know a hell a lot about Weyanne and its capability to do anything evil under the sky. In that case I don’t have hard time to believe this story. And, I think the singers should be released and presume their life and their work freely.
That said, I am not clear how effective it is to communicate such a news on EthioMediaForum under OLF name. OLF is not pro Ethiopia. I am not an Oromo so I see OLF as a treat, and I don’t want to do anything that seems to support OLF. Actually, if I do anything regarding OLF, it would be something against it. Just because I love Ethiopia and I want her to be strong, united, democratic and good for every one of her citizens regardless of their ethnic background. Now, when I think of these two singers, I see them as another Ethiopians who are victims of evil Weyanne. I am sure there are a lot of Ethiopians out there who feel the same way, but OLF is not the one that is capable of organizing us make us to do something about it. Well, someone may say that OLF has no interested in you as long as you are not Oromo…I suspect that is the case. I am not interested in OLF either. I was just visiting a web site that I thought was pro Ethiopia all along and I stabled on this news.
This web site that builds its name as pro Ethiopia and Ethiopians over the years suddenly shifts it is focus to be a mouth piece of OLF. I am sure most Ethiopians visit this web site because they see it as one of their own. Using the name Ethiopia and serving something against Ethiopia is not just a betrayal of trust, but a sickness. I don’t understand why some people can’t be honest to themselves and everybody else? Be true to whom you are then you can have true friends and true enemies. Otherwise, it is confusion and mix up and everybody will be your enemy.

Dear Readers:
The songs of these two Oromo Artitists are traditional Oromo songs. Oromo sheepherds sing those songs probably for centuries. I grew up singing those very songs. They are not new.
It is just like any other Amharic heroic songs. Most of them are traditional songs which does not belong to any single Oromo or Amhara singer.
The tragedy now is that the Ethnic Apartheid Regime of Meles Zenawi want to kill the spirit and culture of the Oromo people, and very soon it will be the same for Amhara singers. This is what Racist and Apartheid regime of Tigre Liberation Front of Meles Zenawi is up for.
We must unite and demand the release of these singers. Their release is the release of Our culture and values. I wish Tigre ethnic group represetatives will really take a hard loook at what TPLF regime of Zenawi is doing and prevent future danger in our country.
We lived together for good or bad. No one prefer destruction. But now it reached to the peak and we are all fulll to our nose.

The Ethiopian people would continue the struggle, peaceful and armed, against the TPLF until the TPLF mercenaries are removed from power and their ethnic policy is totally eradicated from the country. Sending to prision the young rising Ormo singers, Haacaaluu Hundasaa and Dirribee Gadaa, would add more fuel to the fire that is spreading through out Ethiopia and finally the fire will engulf and burn Meles and his cronies. We different ethnicity of Ethiopia really don’t see eye to eye against Weyane. Who are the #1 groups that Weyane is afraid of ? That is right, Oromo and Amara. Why is that, is because what really makes the entity of Ethiopia are these major ethnic groups. Weyane will be finished if they unite. Because of confusion, extremism and misunderstanding and past mistakes these two have blessed Weyane to continue its rule and oppression on them and other groups. Weyane is not discriminating against Amara, or Oromo. That is why I don’t understand both of their claim that they are more oppressed than the other in the current regime. The hodams Amara and Oromo are also not helping by being puppet of Weyane. Unfortunately if these two groups don’t see eye to eye, the misery of Ethiopia will continue under Weyane.

Hum.. I really don’t know were to start. It seems that you are one angry guy out there. I don’t blame you as we are all angry. First, I am not OLF punk or OLF supporter for that matter. I am an Oromo and I feel terrible about the crimes committed against oromo people by the TPLF, under the guise of fighting OLF. The TPLF let the OLF leader go free but went back and launched its war against the innocent people.
Regarding the lack of reporting crimes committed against the oromo people, I do not know the reports you mentioned as I didn’t live long enough in the diaspora. The complaint about EHRCO being oblivious to the human rights violations committed against the OROMOS is well founded. I am not telling you the reality after KINJIT brought the Ethiopian people closer, I am not talking about the present day EHRCO. The 1990s were the darkest period for the Oromo people and EHRCO never reported any of the daylight killings; etc. For that matter, this was a reflection of Professor Mesfin’s contempt for the oromo people. I do not know about you, sir/mr/dr, but professor Mesfin is disturbing even today and rebelling against the andinet leaders simply because they agreed to join medrek.. and his main reason is that medrek accepts the rights of nations and nationalities; and proposes oromiffaa as an official language. He is mad to see this and he trying his best to derail them along with a few guys who are his look alike. If you have the same backward or political views like him, that might be what is making so angry. But, you will never be able to reverse the kind of course Medrek has now taken from being implemented in Ethiopia.. so you will end up being suicidal. Watch out!!!

Well said but little bit strong. Please back up your story of OLF’s abuse on Ethiopians, most likely on Amaras. OLF should not be angry on Amara citizens but they system that leaders in the past installed. That system is long gone but OLF is still accusing Amaras as past leaders. What is best is to negotiate, and have closure of the past and move forward in how they can take Ethiopia democratically forward. What is scary is that, I heard on paltalk once an OLF woman who said her sister married Amara man and as soon as OLF gains momentum, she will not only cut the throat of her brother in law but also her nieces and nephews. I just froze! No wander then why Ethiopians as a whole concerned about OLF teaching on innocent Oromos against Ethiopians. It is not just that. Pure innocent Oromos are being Oromo students in AAU that are spreading the doctrine of OLF that is coming from Minnesota. The pure and innocent Oromos then you see later with blood in his eye with anger and stops interacting with other Ethiopians, particularly Amaras but only interacts with Oromos. If OLF leadership is bringing such savage leadership consider it Rwanda Interhamwe. BTW, tPLF is no different than OLF, they just do it in passive agressive until they are done looting the country.
So people let us say no to Liberation Fronts. While acknowledging past and present oppression, yes indeed there need to be change especially for Oromo and I believe with MODERATE Oromos the country can turn around. Do not give in to any Liberation Fronts. That is why they keep getting support because their claim, fabricated claim and falsehood (that should be backed by sources and documentation) of oppression of their people. It is one thing mobilizing their own people towards equality, voice democracy, etc, it is another thing to instigate hate on other groups despite what ever happens in the past. Apparently they want violence is vicious cycle, what comes around goes around. Only the wiser will win.

First if they try to glorify OLF figheters then why are they trying to live in Ethiopia? I am saying this bc the government considers OLF as terrorist and so if they r glorifying OLF fighethers then for sure the woyanne will take them in to jail. It is quite obvious to any Ethioppian how Weyanes like Getachew are exploiting the resourses of innocent Ethiopians while millions of people are waiting for food support from donors. Any one of you can imagine how much tones of gold weyane is exporting from Shakisso, how many tones of marble they are pulling from Western Ethiopia and many other resourses with their notorious “investor” Alamudi. Can you imagine that Ethiopia will be in a very tragic hardship of food shortage ever seen in next year? This is because of the poor policy Woyanes are following. Look at their political agendas of creating clashes between different ethnic groups like Oromo, Amhara, Somali, Gurage,…. for prolonginig their existence. So please if you really are human beings in the first line and if you are Ethiopian stand against Woyanes and say NO!!!!!!! to their temtation. I particularily want to say one key point to my Ethiopian brothers who are pursuing their education in Ethiopian Universities. First of all, I don’t think those singers should be jailed just because they sing songs. I wouldn’t be surprise if Weyanne put them in jail for no good reason at all, so I would support any effort for their release. I thought the main purpose of the news being on this web site is to gather support for them. If that is the case, I don’t think OLF is the one that is capable of gathering support from Ethiopians. I don’t see the difference between OLF and TPLF. I don’t have any good reason to oppose TPLF and support OLF. It sounds to me you guys want it both ways, but that is not logical. Ethiopia and OLF don’t see eye to eye at least not yet. So, quite being upset and think reasonably first. I am a proud Ethiopian and I don’t touch a thing that has anything to do with OLF.

Introduction:
We wonder why a governmnet which rushed to either demobilize or imprison the 500,000-strong former army, decides to tolerate and even encourage the mushrooming of dozens of ethnic -based armies (OLF/IFLO, Issa, Benishangul ethnic armies, etc) in every nook and corner of the country unless it has a hidden design on Ethiopia. We wonder why a government which has refused entry visas to organizations of proven politiccal track-record that want to participate in the peaceful political life of the country tolerates the proliferation of ethnic-based armed movements unless it has a hidden motive of embroiling Ethiopia in an incessant civil war.
The alarming rate at which these ethnic-based armies are being recruited, trained and deployed negates the very notion of peace, democracy and stability in Ethiopia. We believe that this trend is not compatible with the very notions of “peace, stability and democracy” that the present government is peddling and repeating ad nauseam through the national media that it monopolizes. Billeting, a long forgotten practice whereby roving armies of warlords used to live off peasants, is becoming a fact of life in many areas as the mushrooming ethnic based armies have to depend on the peasants for sustenance. In fact, what we are witnessing is, that peace and stability are becoming rare, if non-existent in Ethiopia; that in various parts of Ethiopia destabilization, inter-ethnic and inter-communal conflicts are today the rule than the exception. This destabilization is in turn hampering farming, commerce, transportation, schools, normal life, etc so much that the Damoclean sword of an unprecedented famine will be hanging over Ethiopia next year.
Today, leaving aside the misleading media orchestrations of EPRDF about “peace, democracy and stability”, the pervasive and miasmatic ethnic politics of the EPRDF-dominated government is leading to inter-ethnic strife, wars, etc. The ramifications of this misguided ethnic policy have already claimed thousands of human lives. In what follows we would present one such ramification of EPRDF’s ethnic politics i.e the hidden massacre or genocide of innocent civilians in Arsi region of southern Ethiopia. It is a graphic account of a horrendous ethnic-based genocide directed against minority AMHARAS and CHRISTIANS living in these areas. It is encumbent upon the international community to take congnizance of these serious developments in Ethiopia and intervene on behalf of these voiceless people who are falling victims (by the day and the hour) of the divisive political policies of the incumbent EPRDF (Ethiopian Peoples Revolutionary Democratic Front) dominated government that is deliberately fanning inter-ethnic animosities. We hereby call upon the international community, western governments, African governmnets, the EEC, UN, OAU, the International Red Cross, UNCHR, Amnesty International, etc to:
1 - bring pressure to bear upon the incumbent EPRDF- dominated government so that it stops its policy of engineering inter-ethnic conflicts, and the genocide of defenceless ethnic minorities in different parts of Ethiopia.
2 - send an international commission of inquiry to establish and verify the atrocities perpetrated in Arsi and other parts of Ethiopia; make public the results of its findings to the world community.
3 - reach the tens of thousands of surviving victims of this massacre whose homes, villages and properties have been destroyed and rehabilitate them.

We have also prepared a translated Italian version of this horrible account and hope that Ethiopians living in other parts of Europe would do the same to bring the plight of these victims to the attention of the world. On December 10, 1991, on the occasion of the EEC summit meeting that took place in Maastricht (Holland), a small group of Ethiopians living in Holland handed in person this translated English version of the ARSI MASSACRE as a petition to the Dutch vice minster of foreign affairs Mr. Piet Dankert. He promised us to pass our enclosed petition to each of all the twelve EEC government leaders and the European Parilament, to the Dutch queen, prime minster, foreign minster and to the foreign minster of Portugal, the country which would take the EEC presidency during the coming six months. On this same day no less than 130 copies of the HIDDEN MASSACRE IN ARSI were distributed and brought to the attention of the more than 1500 journalists then covering the EEC summit at Maastricht, Holland.

The following is the full text of the translated English version of the massacre in Arsi and for the sake of clarity, we have marked it with inverted comma signs at the beginning and the end of the text.
” In the six districts located in Arba Gugu sub-province of Arsi Adminstrative region, thousands of homes have been razed and burnt down to ashes, thousands of human lives have perished; property worth millions of Birr has been destroyed. Human beings have been slaughtered like animals; the breast of women were cut and these very women victims forced to roast or grill their breast. Countless atrocities have been perpetrated. Looking at the following objective evidences (accounts) would give a good picture of the damage wrought.
I) - ATROCITIES PERPETRATED IN THE DISTRICT OF GOLOLCHA
JUNE 9, 1991 :
Groups calling themselves members of the Oromo Liberation Front (OLF) entered into the town of Debre Selam (capital of the district of Gololcha).
JUNE 10, 1991 :
In the morning these OLF members came to the Gololcha school. They brought down the Ethiopian flag and tore it down. Those students who are the children of Amharas and as well as those who are christians were told that their country is that part (of Ethiopia) which lies beyond the Abbay river (Blue Nile River) and accordingly they were told to leave Arsi. They closed the school, dispersed the students and hoisted their own flag (the flag of the OLF). On this very day 16 peasant associations elected and sent elders as representatives to mediate between them and the OLF members. However the elders were greeted with insults and sent back by the OLF.
JUNE 11, 1991 :
On this day OLF members having mounted automatic machine guns on open wagons, looted property (which was being taken care of by elders from twenty peasant associations) belonging to the peasant associations and the government; took away 500 quintals of washed and unpounded (uncrushed) coffee and 57000 birr meant for the coffee plantation workers in the area. On this same day these OLF members opened fire and killed two civilians and wounded five. They shot dead three legal prisoners who were in the prison.
JUNE 13, 1991 :
On this day the EPRDF tried to stabilize the situation. For the time being the killings stopped. There took place a political agitation (propaganda by the OLF) which had the effect of fanning differences between the christian and moslem populations which have (hitherto) always lived together in peace and harmony. Gradually many people joined them (the OLF) as a result of the propoganda campaign.
OCTOBER 8, 1991 :
On this day we were told about the entry of 15 members of the OLF (into the town of Debre Selam) for political activity. On this same day an (OLF) army of more than 2000 equipped with modern weapons entered during the night by using the darkness of the night as their cover. This army had a health team along with large and medium sized trucks loaded with dry foodstuff. On this day these OLF members killed one of the three OPDO (Oromo Peoples Democratic Movement) members who was then in Debre- Selam, while the other two, who were hand-cuffed by the OLF, later escaped towards the near-by peasant associations. However, as one of these escapees was wounded (by the OLF) while escaping, he later died of the wound he sustained. While their dry foodstuff (of the OLF army) has been canned, it bears the script LIBYA on it. Many civilians who tried to defend themselves by taking positions and entrenching themselves along rivers and streams died due to the poisoning of the water by the OLF. The poison was manufactured in Saudi Arabia.
OCTOBER 30, 1991 : IN THE MORNING
The OLF members closed the narrow and key road connecting the district of Gololcha with the district capital - Abomsa thereby killing 10 people and looting a lot of property. Among those killed were:
1). Mr. Hailu Habte Mariam who was a famous elder and a man with a modest medical knowledge.
2). Mr. Haile Wolde Michael who was a reknowned elder of the area.
3). Mr. Mamo Beyene
4). Mr. Awgichew Gucho
5). Mr. Bedlu Shifferaw and 6) Mr. Tutu Shifferaw who were brothers.
OCTOBER 31, 1991:
Beginning at 6 a.m in the morning, the OLF surrounded the 16 peasant associations around DIBU and GIGAN areas in the district of GOLOLCHA killing 7 people and wounding many others. The people in the area opposed this massacre by trying to defend themselves by resorting to spears. Upon the intervention of elders the shooting was stopped.
NOVEMBER 2, 1991:
On this very area (DIBU and GIGAN areas) the OLF opened fire beginning at 7 a.m thereby killing more than 1000 (one thousand people). The homes and properties of 16 peasant associations and their individual members were looted, pillaged and the rest set on fire by the OLF. The genocide which took place on this day was extremely horrendous and barbaric. For example, the OLF members after having forced two christian elders to say “Alah Weakber” against their religious belief, have blind-folded these two elders with a piece of cloth and slaughtered them like animals and thrown them in front of the doorsteps of SAINT MIKAEL (MICHEL) CHURCH at GINGA.
PART III - THE HIDDEN MASSACRE OF AMHARAS AND CHRISTIANS IN ARSI
II) - ATROCITIES COMMITTED IN AND AROUND MOYE IN THE DISTRICT OF CHOLE.
OCTOBER 19, 1991 :
On this market day in an attempt to attack the Amhara people and disperse the people at the market, the Arsi moslems opened fire and shot dead 3 (three) people.
OCTOBER 22, 1991 :
These same moslems, having organized an army of between 300 and 400 men, opened fire on the town of Moye killing an unknown number of people. In general they looted and ransacked everything ranging from business owned by individuals to governmental organisations thereby leaving the town empty.
OCTOBER 23, 1991 :
These same fighters set on fire four peasant villages thereby leaving no less than 1000 (one thousand) families without any shelter.
OCTOBER 28, 1991 :
This same attack continued thereby destroying and burning 12 (twelve) peasant villages by fire and leaving behind more than 10,000 (ten thousand) inhabitants (people without shelter and exposing them to starvation and dispossession.
NOVEMBER 5, 1991 :
On this day also an OLF army, no less than 400 in number, penetrated deep into Moye from the neighbouring adminstrative region of Hararghe. This OLF force bombed and shelled with launchers, automatic rifels, bombs and explosives innocent farmers who do not know anything else except farming and civilian life. This modern army has different types of canned and dry foodstuff and was particularly attacking members of the Amhara ethnic group and the christian population living in the area. This massacre and genocide has not abated or stopped yet.
III) - ATROCITIES PERPETRATED IN THE DISTRICTS OF MERTI AND GEGU AND IN ABOMSA THE CAPITAL OF ARBAGUGU SUB-PROVINCE
OCTOBER 4, 1991 :
Mr. Tesfaye Alemu and Mr. Gebre Sellase Gebre Egziabher, both of whom were working on their farms, near ABOMSA town - the capital of the sub-province, were perforated and killed with bullets by the OLF forces. The killers went away ululating. The killers of these two men are Mr. Hussien Safeno and Mr. Kedir Gelma. Having committed these atrocities, the two men still live freely in the town (ABOMSA town) with their arms. Since the killing of these two men, the property and domestic animals of the christian population of the area are openly looted and the rest being set on fire.
OCTOBER 28, 1991 :
900 (nine hundred homes) housing people in six peasant associations in ANGODECHI area in the district of GEGU were set on fire and the properties of the inhabitants looted and ransacked. Although burned and tarred human skulls were found in the burnt houses, it was not possible to know the exact number of victims of this atrocity. However, those who survived this horrendous attack have fled into the surrounding bushes and valleys.
OCTOBER 29, 1991:
In this same district in WERENSO GURE, WENGELO KERSA, AMSHERA MENGAGSA areas 420 (four hundred twenty) houses were burnt down by fire. As the houses were set on fire during the night, at which time many people were in deep sleep, the number of people killed by far exceeds that of GEGU mentioned above. But the exact figure of the people who had died is not known.
OCTOBER 30, 1991 :
In three areas in the district of MERTI i.e in MOLLEME SEKA, FEREKESA MESKOBE, MOLOME KESA areas a total of 570 (Five Hundred Seventy) homes were burnt down.
OCTOBER 31, 1991 :
In this same district of MERTI in areas called AWACHURA MICHA, FEREKESA MUKAGELO, ASHE FELIKA 336 houses were burnt down.
NOVEMBER 5, 1991 :
In a peasant association known as GOBENU CHAKA with the exception of 16 houses with corrugated roofs, all the remaining 116 houses (one hundred sixteen) were burnt down. While houses in the above -mentioned areas were set on fire, children and old people housed in these homes were also burnt alive. Those who were strong and tried to escape from the burning houses were shot at and the ones who survived have fled to an unknown direction. Within these two days, in these two districts alone property worth millions of Birr, accumulated over centuries has been destroyed. More than one thousand homes were burnt down. Schools and churches in the districts have been looted and pillaged. Parts of these schools and churches have also been burnt down. At this moment, in the whole sub-province 197 (one hundred ninety seven elementary and junior highschools as well as 2 (two) highschools, thus a total of 199 (one hundred ninety nine) schools are closed. While a school teacher in the district of MERTI had been killed, the remaining teachers have fled the area. An Explanatory Addendum
EPRDF -is an abbreviation form meaning Ethiopian Peoples Democratic Front. EPRDF is a deceptive euphemisim for the Tigrean People”s Liberation Front. Today (TPLF) is the single most important and dominant group dictatorially dictating terms to the so-called Transitional Government of Ethiopia. It, along with organizations like the OLF and IFLO, is responsible for the massacre of Amharas in many parts of southern Ethiopia - a massacre which it has master-minded and devised through its policy of weakening the Amhara people whom it depicts as opressors, chauvnists and expansionists.
OLF - Oromo Liberation Front, was the second most important group in the Transitonal Government next to the EPRDF. The OLF has always defined the Ethiopian state as a colonial state and the Oromos as colonial subjects although this view is not shared by millions of Oromos on whose behalf it claims to speak. Following the fall of Mengistu’s regime, the OLF rushed to join hands with the Tigrean group - EPRDF (TPLF) in forming the Transitional Government of Ethiopia. We wonder how long the political honey moon will continue.
OPDO - Oromo Peoples Democratic Organization , this is an organization which has been spawned by the TPLF (EPRDF) from the ranks of captured prisoners of war (POWs) of the former government. It was created by the TPLF and is used by the latter today to displace the OLF proper and justify TPLF’s pentration into so-called Oromo territories. The OPDO is considered by the OLF as a puppet organization of the TPLF (EPRDF); hence their enemity and clash as has been mentioned in this report.
EPLF - refers to the Eritrean People’s Liberation Front which has now set up a provisonal government in Eritrea. This secessionist organization today dictates Ethiopia’s politics through its ally - the EPRDF=TPLF) - which it has helped in coming to power. The EPLF today engineers the complete disintegration of Ethiopia on ethnic lines so that strong Ethiopia may never emerge to pose any challenge or problem to its secessionist project. It should be remembered that the EPLF along with the OLF forces was instrumental in the genocide of 300 innocent AMHARAS in Assosa in January 1990.

“There are more than 15,000 ethnic Oromo Ethiopians in Minnesota, enjoying a much cherished freedom and democracy in America.
Last week, northern Kenya residents were once again attacked by raiders who are claimed to be bandits with links to OLF. Also a Kenyan inquiry on OLF’s role in the Marsabit massacre hasn’t been concluded especially because of the mysterious & tragic death of one of the Kenyan MPs who used to be against OLF’s incursion in that border country – MP Dr Bonaya Godana. What has happened to the Oromo liberation movement during almost the last two decades has been just as mysterious and just as tragic as Dr Godana’s sudden death. It is as mysterious because the liberation front’s formal mission statement & goal has been changing back and forth more often than normal. Some days the organization says its mission is to achieve an independent nation of Oromia after separating from the Ethiopian “empire” while in other days it claims to fight for democracy inside Ethiopia disregarding an independent nation of Oromia ideology. And it has been as tragic because the Liberation Front’s reckless and at times vicious military intrusions have claimed the lives of hundreds of innocent civilians over the years that many people are actually beginning to doubt OLF’s commitment to basic human rights and international laws.
Accordingly, the list of tragedies caused by OLF’s attacks throughout East Africa is extensive. For example, in 1998, the Bagalla Massacre carried out by the Oromo Liberation Front’s fierce militia near the border between Kenya and Ethiopia was catastrophic. More than 180 civilians, mostly women and children, were killed by the OLF militia in the Wajir district (North eastern Kenya) however some sources claim that the causalities were even higher & approaching 216 civilians killed by Oromo Liberation Army (OLA) – which is a heavily armed wing of OLF. According to University of Pennsylvania’s African Studies Center report, “over 8000 livestock” were also destroyed in addition to the hundreds of human injuries and deaths at the end of the massacre.
Also according to a report by Human Rights Watch (HRW), 154 ethnic Amharas were killed by OLF supporters and militia in another incident in December 1991. This mass murder was known as Arba Guugu Massacre and most of these slaughtered Amhara settlers were labeled by OLF members by the derogatory term “Neftenga.”
Then there is also the Assosa Massacre. This massacre of nearly 300 Amharas in the Benshangul region of Ethiopia has been mostly the work of OLF rebels in the 1990 transition periods. The fact that the causalities were civilians instead of Ethiopian army soldiers, who OLF was fighting against, has marred OLF’s image in that Ethiopian region for many years. Despite these terrorist works of OLF that has killed so many civilians, various pro-OLF Oromos living in Minnesota continue to finance OLF’s violent activities.
In addition, most Ethiopians haven’t forgotten the horrifying ordeal of the Bedeno Massacre. According to Human Rights Watch, OLF spokespersons admitted that its members murdered 150 more civilians during the Bedeno massacre where most of the causalities were forced to jump off a cliff by extremist Oromo members of OLF in Ethiopia.
Ironically, all of these OLF terrorist attacks on hundreds of civilians in the name of an ethnocentric liberation ideology during the last two decades seem to oppose its own mission statement that was supposed to stand for human right values. This has drastically harmed the abilities of OLF members, especially living in Minnesota, to gain any diplomatic benefit in their favor. Not only that, it has been almost impossible for OLF to accuse the Ethiopian government on human rights. While asking for anonymity for his safety, one anti-OLF Oromo American living in Minnesota said “it is hard for OLF or ULFO or actually any armed liberation fronts to lecture others on human rights while they continue to commit every human rights violation there is. People wait until civilian causality to condemn this militia but what about the killing of Oromo national soldiers by OLF militia? There has to be a phase where they adjust their movement and choose peaceful means instead of following the same formula for decades.”…….
OLF’s ongoing fight against Oromos in Ethiopia
Even more aggravating the issue is that the voice of a million or more Oromos of mixed ancestors or mixed Oromos from Oromia, Abyssinia and/or mixed with one of the other 79 Ethiopian ethnic groups, has been almost completely ignored by the OLF movement. Even in some cases, both mixed and full Oromos who didn’t accept OLF’s ideologies have been ignored and at times attacks by the Oromo separatist groups. A Human Rights report published in 1993 has described the prior incidents and events in Ethiopia while OLF was still in the country during the transition periods. The report showed that OLF and other Oromo separatist groups had to “detain” and “torture” Oromos who didn’t accept OLF and its policies. According to the Institute of Security Studies, the Oromo liberation movement has overtime “transformed from a revolution movement into a terrorist movement.”
Also it hasn’t been just ordinary Oromos condemning the OLF militia, condemning their Oromo financers in Minnesota and some pro-OLF Oromo immigrants in Washington D.C. Various Oromo professors and Oromo intellectuals in Ethiopia continue to accuse OLF of harming the peaceful struggle to improve Ethiopia from inside out.
Marginalized Oromo Movement embracing extreme propaganda & Al-Qaeda
Since the early 1990’s, according to various analysts, OLF’s defeat inside Ethiopia harmed the movement and forced it to move its bases more southward to Kenya & Somalia. However after various massacres committed by the OLF in northern Kenya and its aggressive support for pro-OLF Borana Kenyans against the rest of north Kenyan ethnic groups; the Kenyan government began arresting & pushing out OLF rebels in order to “ensure members of the Oromo Liberation Front do not operate from Kenya.” According to The Nation, a Kenyan national newspaper, various OLF fighters were arrested in the country and some OLF rebels have been defecting to the Kenyan government’s side………”/// Indeed OLF’s day of court is near and we will see how the Minnesota, Seattle, Washington DC OLF supporters stand in the court for supporting the slaughtering of children and elders in Ethiopia by their organization. I should warn everbody that you shouldn’t fall for Getachew’s record of ‘evidence’. Untested evidence, that is. He gave you a list of victims and criminals. According to him, the accused are 100% surely crimnals. He is the prosecutor, the judge and the jury. All are said to be OLF members, as if this claim has been tested and verified by the all-knowing God of justice, Ato Getachew.
But, there is a good ground to suspect that TPLF and/or EPLF coud have insinuated these crimes. They may have used their cadres from tigray and Erittrea and claim they were OLF members. A vicious intrigue. It is possible in Ethiopia. Our politicians do not have conscience. They are irresponsible to shoulder the consequences of their actions.
I will tell you my own story as an illustratiion. In Grade 8, our science teacher Gojjamew Ayalew organized students to protest the national Grade 8 examination fee. In the morning of that day, the school was to collect the exam fee, teacher Ayalew’s secret student leaders, however, passe underground information to boycott classes from morning break to lunch time. I had no information. After the 10 am break, I went back to my class. There was no one studen. I went back out to the feld where students were playing. I did not ask and no one told me.
After lunch, all students came in to the class. We finished the week normal. In the second week, the Director gathered the school’s about 2500 pupils and declared he was the man in charge and that we were in his “palms”. That those pupils who misled students to refuse to pay national exam fee for Grade 8 would be punished in public. Some 10 innocent students were flogged. The severest was 20 canes of an eucalyptus branch to the accused first ring leader. 2 of us were 15 canes for second degree ring leaders. 3 pupils were beaten 10 times with the branch. 4 were beaten 7 times with the eucalyptus branch in front of the 2500 students. These victims of thisvicous setup wept, cried, moaned , shrieked and shrilled when flogged while teacher Ayalew stood by the side and watched. The beating was administered by his friend and room-mate Teacher Biratu. He used all his force on the tiny teenage pupil bodies. He was about 6 feet tall, 210 lbs and easily in his 30s. The pupils had a choice to receive the beating lying face down on their butts or on their palms of your hands.
So watch out about so called facts. I was black-mailed but did not organize, lead or pass secret information to effect the protest. It’s very possible the rest of the victim kids were innocent.

What most of us are not aware of is that inferiority complex is considered abnormal. It deviates from the common feelings of inadequacy, making the sufferer intentionally denigrate oneself due to a compulsion to be attached to varied concepts, most of which are not directly associated with one’s self-worth in the first place. Especially when such mood could occur when a political organization claiming “liberator” is bankrupted by its ideology or criminal action against fellow human beings will always suffer by inferiority complex and act insecure. Having an inferiority complex makes us very insecure and uncomfortably sensitive people, and tends to always see himself/herself worthless compared to others (from its inside) from outside it reacts as if superior. As a result, he/she develops a high anxiety level due to the slightest negative remarks or reactions (which may or may not be really directed at him/her), thinking it is a serious attack against the little value he/she has left as a person. In effect, he/she develops a seemingly-insatiable hunger for flattery and appreciation, or in defense, he/she acquires a depreciating perception of others. Or in effect he/she develops an abrupt paternal mood claiming he/she is the stem and the human root of all ethnic and colors while others are branches or subordinates obtained emerged from her/him. Or he/she will vow at others “we are coming at you with full force”. That showed a person is suffering inferior complex after frustrated to stop the competition that kneel his capacity failed to stand a genuine arguments directed at him/her.
Could you have developed an inferiority complex? If the previously mentioned characteristics define you, then it is probable that you could have already developed an inferiority complex. Long before it pushes you further into depression and mass murder and ethnic cleansing crimes; for your own sake, seek professional help and confront your situation right away in Asmara. I am 100% argee with you at this time . This so called OLF and their supporters are bunch of cowards .They do not have courage to confront their own nightmares OLF AND ShABIA. The leaders been fooled by Isayas and Melese the last 30 years. After 30 years of killing of innocent rular population they still langushing in the heaven called SAWA. Let me give you one example…. One of the top leader of this group he has a son about 18 years old age. This year when Kenesisa won in Berlin, the father said Oromo wins and jump around the house.The kids look confused and the kid said “dad , why he is carring the Ethiopian flag?” The dad answer ” he just brain washed by Ethiopian and they force him to carry a flag” . I said wow even this big shot a…. hole can not explain to his own son. OLF is a hate group, they lived out of the country for so long , they do not know where to start. You choce to be slave to your own sick ideology.

Indeed, brother Doro, ;- the example you gave us is about Kenenis Bekele and the OLF cult and his son is interesting example of how these cults living all over Europe and U.S. living with joy and their kids well fed and enjoy all sorts of modern life “computers, Satellite and Cable TV…….), talking “liberation of Oromia by all means necessary (one of their ignorant who preached “by all means necessary” while living and enjoying European life and American life is Assefa Jalleta), while the poor Oromo peasants cow and camel Shepherd is manipulated to go the jungle and die and suffer for the “ego of those manipulators” enjoying life in Minnesota and else where with their kids in a warm and safe home. The old and corrupt OLF leadership never come to Minnesota and ask the youth and their parents who writes too much of Oromia Republic fantasy to join the jungle fighters of OLF. Instead they go to Kenya and Sudan or Djibouti to manipulate the poor maids and others living their life to send money to their family back home. Why do the target those? We know that the leadership’s kids are all with their family living in Europe and U.S., therefore, can’t say a word to send their sons/daughters to the jungle. Sad indeed!
I understand many friends and concerned individuals comments why I have to waste time talking to those brainless OLF/EPLF/TPLF cults regularly. I understand that I have and had all privileges to discuss with the so called “intellectuals” in the “closed-doors” in the internet discussion forum. But, I do gain and learn any thing there, being there with them (in fact some of them are as thuggish mind as those you see on an open forum). I know that talking on an open forum with OLF cults and thugs might be wasting time talking to beasts about what matters to people. But, in the way, though, I know I am wasting my time talking to beast about what matters to people; but, I am sending messages and informing other ill informed communities who OLF is and its crime in society and keep its crime records alive from being forgotten.

It is the driving force of the whole activity. It compels the scientist to have an overriding respect for truth, every stretch of the way. That is, if you’re going to find what is there, you mustn’t deceive yourself or anyone else. You mustn’t lie to yourself. At the crudest level, you mustn’t fake your experiments….”
Many members and followers of all sorts of cults (political, religious, entertainment…) do not want to see their organization’s crime, weakness, manipulative character exposed to the open air, because the shocking news/hidden crime record is simply unbearable to their soul, simply because of “denial”. The great danger clouding over ethiopia isn’t coming from OLF, ONLF,EPPF or G-7, it is coming from EPLF (E. AFEWERKI). It is obvious this man Afewerki(grandiose) is preparing and sharpening day and night his dull sword for slaughter of ethiopians when he get the opportunity.
I request the current ethiopian government officials especially prime minister Melesse Zenawi and his collagues to get rid off this dictator before they retire in five years time for the best of ethiopia and eritrians too. I watched the report by BBC TV three days ago about refugees especially eriterans suffering, I wept for few minutes for eritrean brothers.
I assume the cost of war is unimaginable in human and economic side of it but when I see the preparation of Afeworki for the slaughter of ethiopians especially Tigrayans is, I feel it is better to pay what ever price to get rid off this man. This man is waiting favourable time.
If Prime minister Melesse and his colleagues retire before they get rid off this dictator, they are responsible for the blood shed cause by this maniac.

Passion is runing high concerning the above article posted, based on the number of responses the news is generating and the unbridged, it seemed to me, political opinions this Website vistors so far have displayed. But it is not a new phenomena. The Oromo question has elicited raw emotions and continue to be is undeniable. The reason for that is evident: there are two sides who could not agree on the issue of the so called Oromo question. There are Ethiopians who believe partioning Ethiopia along ethnic lines serves the interest of a few politicians who are in the business of marketing the concept only because they see it to be the only means to assume power. There are Oromos, who choose to be called as such, not Ethiopians, who believe because they constitute the majority in Ethiopia they should be the only one to have a right to speak how the country will be reestablished. No one or party whatever omnipotent power might have could not bring this opposing views to a middle ground, which both sides might agree as a genuine compromise. But this beg a question: Why do the Oromo activists believe they could convince Ethiopians would concede to the concept of partioning the country and make an independent Oromia as some Oromo elites wished it to be? It is just because impossible to do so unless all Ethiopians agreed upon. But if that consent is required the Oromos who should argue their case should not have tried to be persuasive rather than a collection of hotheads, who still have a hard time accepting current facts unless Menlik is in the mix to kick him around. I do not mean the persuasion might be fruitful, but at least from the point of the activists who claimed to have had a legitimate demand it was expected. Not only epected in fact it was required, especially when the so called activists do not constitute even 5 percent of the Oromo people. If there could be in theory a struggle that could be destined to go nowhere from its inception, it is the movement to make an Oromia country without the consent of Ethiopians, which will never materialize.
