By Christian – I grew up listening how the Americans really cared about human rights and humanity. I believed what I heard and read about the US being the holy nation that cared about humanity. I believed the stories narrated in their movies. That was then when I was innocent enough to believe their propaganda.
Then I realized that the US did not really care about human rights. I knew that US was using human right issues to serve its interest. Its policy was US-interest and US-interest only. The US kept quiet and watched as millions died in Rwanda.
Why did it not interfere? Because US did not have any interest in Rwanda, which is a very poor nation. Had US interfered, millions of lives could have been saved. However, the US was very quick to interfere into the Iraq-Kuwait situation. Why? Because Kuwait is a rich nation. It has oil. It has strategic importance for the US military. US did not want to see a strong Iraq nation, which is threat to its friend nation, Israel. US took action in the case of the former Yugoslavia. Why? It had political interest in that region. It is not that the US cared about the poor guys dying over there.
Any leader against the US is labelled “Dictator”, even when he is not. Any leader with them is considered “Progressive”, even when he is a dictator to his own people, even when he has killed thousands of his own people. Our Prime minister, Meles Zenawi, is a perfect example of the later.
I lost hope on the US that I saw until the Bush administration because of what I saw in my life time. I considered the US as the modern day Kingdom of Great Britain. I understood that it was modern day colonization. Colonization in its new form: very deceitful.
Then came Barack Obama and I listened to every speech he made. They seemed to come out of his heart. It seemed that he meant every word he said and my hope in the US revived. But my hope in Obama did not last long. He considers Meles Zenawi- the evil, the dictator, the killer- as a very good friend. He plans to extend aid to a dictator who has been using the aid money to suppress democracy and human rights and to buy bullets to kill its own people. Why did Obama do this? It is because Meles Zenawi is with the US. Obama turned out to be the new George Bush, the new Clinton.
This is a message to my fellow Ethiopians:
“Let us not place our hopes in the US or in Obama but on ourselves. On our heroes like Birtukan Midekssa, Obang Metho, Prof. Alemayehu Gebremariam, and others whom I did not mention since the list would be endless. Obama has decided to stand with an Ethiopian dictator and not with Ethiopian people. Obama is another US leader for the US.”
“We are the only solutions to our problems. We are the only hopes to our nation. The saviour to our nation comes only from within us!”
Shame on you, the USA! Shame on you, Obama!

let us not forget that Bush administration war caused death of almost 500,000 iraqi people.
in history, american genocides caused death of millions of Native Indians and others.
and when african-american opposition groups wanted legality many decades ago, american government leaders were imprisoning and killing african politicians many decades ago, just like dictator meles zenawi is doing today to the opposition.

I know what you mean dear. The thing is it is too early to judge what the intention of the US is. The official that delivered this message has said to TLF, what he has to say, and I think, you should also remember it is all rapped with a diplomatic rug. i am wondering, Obama may indicate his African aproche when he visits Ghana. You should also understand why Obama picked Ghana, he is also delivering a message.
Let’s wait and see, what the future holds for our poor Nation!!

In light of American support to Woyane, two important points to consider:
1) The need for an offensive.
We need a military offensive against Woyane from such groups as G7, EPPF, EPRP.( I am not totally sure about EPRP It seems the second coming of Christ will be upon us before EPRP sprints into action). If these groups have the capacity to fight Woyane as they claim they do, now is the time to disrupt Woyanes movements and existence in Ethiopia. Man power and sophisticated weaponry are not an absolute necessity. What they need to do is train elite commando units by the hundreds in a short period of time. These highly trained commandos should be divided into a 10 man unit and infiltrate to hard target areas deep in the territory where they can do some damage. Every unit is on its own to accomplish its mission and get back to base. Hit and run is the only way to fight the well fed Woyane army. This type of action will ultimately push the general population into a popular uprising. Far fetched idea? Let’s somebody try it. The people are on edge and waiting for any sign that will propel them into action. I suggest Gonder and Gojam as ground zero point.
2)FUNDING
Do you love your country? If the answer is yes , then put your money where your mouth is and participate. These groups can not operate without resources. All you have to come up with is a once a life time contribution. Assuming there are 1000 country loving Ethiopians in every state(US)–that’s 50.000 Ethiopians total. If these Ethiopians contribute 1000 us dollars each, the grand total will be….you do the math! Imagine a fraction of Ethiopians in the rest of the world do the same!! These fund can be converted into a cash cow. These groups can start businesses such as restaurants, Taxis….etc. that will generate income in continuous basis. That is how EPLF did it. That’s how OLF and EPRP do it to some extent.
You say you love your country? Well, prove it. Depending on the ferenjis or 10.000 protest rallies is not going to change the equation. We can make a difference only by willing to go the extra mile. May god give us the strength and wisdom to fight for mother Ethiopia!!

I don’t buy your idea this time because it is to early to judge Obama’s Ethiopia’s policy. This kind of early judgment open door for woyane Fascist government and it is blind supporters. I wait his policy how it shapes up in the election of 2010. Also I didn’t read anywhere Obama considered meles as “his good friend” please refer me if you read it anywhere. However, to free our country Ethiopia from Ethino-facist regime is our responsibility not Obama’s but we need his help not to support meles but Ethiopian people. So far what I see now is just that. He shouldn’t abandoned Ethiopian people. That is how politics works. People don’t rush don’s judge it is too early.

It is the behavior of Habeshas to attach themselves to foreign countries and governments in order to kill,colonize,oppress and brutally mass-murder their (own) people . So woyane did the same thing as Menlike(the illiterate and ugly king)and Teferi Mekonen (the devil who was sacrificing human beings ) .
