EMF (5 June 2009) Minister for Capacity Building of Zenawi’s regime, Tefera Walwa is in Bangkok, Thailand for an extensive medical treatments, Mr. Tefera Walwa confirmed the news in a short telephone conversation* with EMF.
Update - …And after 30 minutes, EMF called back Ato Tefera Walwa and requested for further interview. Ato Tefera told us that he is not in a position to give interview and advised EMF to contact his office in Addis. Detail conversation is recorded but not published at this moment.
Walwa was reportedly collapsed in the middle of a meeting before he was sent to Thailand. Our sources also said that Tefera wanted to get medical treatments in Europe or the USA but he was forced by Bereket to go to Asia - fearing he might contact opposition groups in Europe or North America.
ETV is showing archive video of Tefera’s speech to pretend as if he is intact.
Tefera walwa is now under medical treatments in Bangkok’s Bumrungrad International hospital located at 33 Sukhumuit Hai 3, Klongtoey Wattana.
Genet Zewdie, Zenawi’s Ambassador in India, was assigned to handle all the hospital arrangements, according to inside sources. Solomon, Ataklti and other unidetified securities are assigned to stay with Ato Tefera and report his activity to Ethiopia Woyane’s security office.
It is to be recalled that the wife of Tefera Walwa, Mrs. Ayne Tsige was arrested in connection with the alleged Ginbot 7 ‘coup plot’ and released later. Ayne was taken to jail when she tried to stop the police from taking away her 80-year-old father.

Now woyane has a very good excuse to get rid off Tefera Walwa. They will damp him by a simple pretext of medical reason as he is no more helpful for them: rather he is seen as a threat to their illegal legitimacy.They have used him as much as they want to. He has been their front man for a very long time in attacking Amhara, which he claims to be representing. watch what Woyane mouth pieces would say in a couple of days. Personally he is probably the only woyane who has not been much corrupted.
If he is known to have contacted G7 in anyways I don’t even think Woyane will let him go back home. I think he knows them very well and will not play such a game. there are however signs that he is at a point where he can’t take the clear dominance and looting of the country by a minority regime.

This news by itself will in danger the life of freedom fighters. So you will take responsibility for any life lost by your article you posted. Ato Tefera Walwa is one of the big guns of the Ethno-fascist Meles Zenawi and has beens serving his ethno-fascist bosses with the all the loyalty needed. There are already rumours of Meles Zenawi`s move to discard this man from the south, due to his deteriorating health and lack of trust in him. Ato Tefera Walwa`services to ethno-fascism have put him at loggerheads with democratic and country loving Ethiopians from the south. The use and throw method Meles Zenawi applies to his non-Tigrayan big guns would definitely come to haunt ato Tefera Walwa.
The ethno-fascists are abusing Ato Tefera Walwa as a figurehead or symboolic minister of capability building, to facilitate the exclusive training of their Tigrayan personell who are going to replace all non-Tigrayans in the sivil service. Now the Tigrayans are known to account for almost 98 % of the trainees being sent abroad for training in various fields and at all levels. I have never seen such a totally blatant practice of discrimination, marginalization and racism as practised by the ethno-fascist regime of Meles Zenawi. The discriminating and racist rule of the erhno-fascists covers all areas of life in the country. It is even worse than the now defunct Apartheid system in South Africa. The much Internationally condemned and repugnant Apartheid system in South Africa gave non-whites the right to higher education. The discriminated, marginalized and oppressed Ethiopians must be part of the popular Ginbot7 movement and strive for the creation of a democratic, fair and just system in Ethiopia.

It is amazing that looks for some of you Tefera Walwa is “hero”. That is what going to say? Even Ginbot 7, why they want to contact him? If he wants let him contact them and repent for what he has done. He is part of Woyane group. After he and his group destroyed the country for so long, we don’t want him in any form. The news of ato Tefera Walwa`s illness and departure for medical treatment abroad should be viewed from different angles. He is one of the henchmen of ethno-fascism and very unpopular among Ethiopians.
Together with Addisu Legesse, Tamrat Layne and Bereket Simon, he is the leading cadre in Meles Zenawi`s fake Amhara organization. Meles Zenawi had used specially ato Tamrat layne to commit genocide against the Amharas living in the eastern and southern parts of the country. It is time for ato Tefera Walwa to repent his services to ethno-fascim and beg the wider Ethiopian public for pardon. His former colleague ato Tamrat Layne has failed or refused to repent and beg pardon. He should thus face justice when the right time for it comes after the fall of ethno-fascism in Ethiopia. Ginbot7 should mobilize and rally Ethiopians to intensify the struggle against ethno-fascism.

The holy name should not be tainted with the names of criminals. Tefera doesn’t serve any purpose for the struggle, he is just a naive politician who have sold the Amhara people for his belly. G7 needs people who have real commitement for the movement, it doesn’t have time to teach the abc of democracy for the likes of Tefera. An old dog can’t learn a new trick after all. We must put a clear line between our supporters, who are endowed with a vivid objective and those of the woyane stooges. The G7 struggle will never benefit by bringing old dogs to its camp, rather it will weaken its own strength. This is not an ethnic struggle, not a stuggle between the Amharas and the rest of the people, it is a struggle between the forces of democracy and the forces of evil. It has nothing to do with ethnicity. Thus, Teferas coming to the struggle doesn’t add an iota of strength to G7. EMF as an independent media has the write to publish any news, but the G7 representative, who neither denounced nor confirmed the news, has to come out publicly and say that G7 didn’t contact the man. Then we will have confidence on our movement’s clear path. We don’t aspire to litter our movement by collecting garbages like Tefera and others. How can Dr Berhanu and Tefera have a common agenda to talk, it is just inviting Mandela and Dr Goobles to talk together. Berhanu is a democracy messanger who have lost all his earthly life for the sake of democracy and freedom. He is the Mandela or the Dailalama of Ethiopia. Can Tefera Walewa confess before he “passed away” ? Yes, indeed !! First he should condemn the arrest of his buddies led by General Tefera Mamo on fabricated charges of terrorism. The attempted contact from Ginbot 7 need support to facilitate the snatching away of Tefera from his hospital bed in Thailand from Woayne.
If he chooses to follow his former buddy Tamerat Layne and convert to “Jesus” and get a comfortable retirement from TPLF he will be remembered as a “pocket builder” who failed to build his brain “capacity”.

Journalism is not a field to cover news only what is called “good” but also s/he should cover those news that are said “bad” for those special interest groups. Otherwise, where is the principle of democracy? Cos democracy of journalism covers to look all types of news whether good or bad. It is not Weyane, it is not Derg , it is not Hailsslassie, We all are responsible for all what happened to the country. We cannot hid our mistakes by the saying the “Goverment” always. Generations have passed without any improvement. Don’t forgate these goverment officials are the sons and doughters of Ethiopia. I am feeling that we all sit on our pc and crying by looking bad news from the media about the country. It is time for us to work in every aspect what ever possible. Guys it is not the poletics that the ethiopian people need , it is the economics. I believe the economics has to come first and then it possible to talk about democracy bla bla. There is not any country who succeed democracy before growth in economy. Don’t you think that millions of people working under the goverment practice what they don’t want in every aspect. It is a economy that forces to carry that all burden. The problem is even we here in the better world didn’t undertand it. There have been poletical movements 70 years ago and it is the same as today. We are so busy talking about it. Doing nothing to the poor mother, child , generations for tomorrow’s Ethiopia. In the past 50 years, the country created opportunites education for few of her citizens but they left by throwing a stone on the stone. Then they cry here in outside “I love Ethiopia” and enslave themsleves for the white, giving nothing other than foriegn country for thier child. I believe if we love our country, we have to create a movement in every aspect being inside the country , on the ground not sitting outside. For those of “Ethiopians” here outside who could creat great difference (but hid themslves for the white ham) if they were in the country, I don’t want to say that they are “Ethiopians”. I don’t see any problem in reporting such a news so long as it is a fact. To those who are worried that this may compromise G7’s struggle, it is up to G7, if it ever has anything to do with the news, to keep it secret in the first place. EMF is not the spokesperson of G7, who is obliged to choose what is good or bad for the organization. So long as the information is left out there, even if EMF doesn’t post it there so many who can do so, if they think it is worth damaging G7.
So EMF, don’t be intimidated by all the fuss. I know you won’t. And, thank you for the good work you are doing all along.

No matter how impressive an economic development Woyane might bring so long as it stands for an exclusive benefit of one ethnic group the fight must go on.

Here goes my advice on how to stop the buck; let the editor delete the news and let others stop the buck. This is the best solution for this little hitch hike. The editor has paid dearly in the fight against the woyane, we don’t want to withdraw him on the road before we arive at our destination. The train is so fast, so fast that there could be people who drop on the road, but EMF is the one which arrives to the end.

If EMF considers itself as a media in the opposition, it should follow a set of ethics that are congruent with its principles. If G7 has secretly contacted Tefera for any reason and EMF somehow uncovered this secret, it should use some common sense as to how to handle the news. Is our thirst for ወሬ so unquenchable that we want to risk compromising the work of some groups in the opposition?
Free media doesn’t mean a free ride to publish whatever comes our way. EMF should know better in particular, when the struggle is waged against a ruthless regime.

Bravo Lemlem Kiros, but put that concept in terms of alignment/ cofiguration of political models to give light to the intricacy of the Ethiopian politics or alignmenet of the political factions, rather than assigning the blame to TPLF alone without the surrogates (teletafi parties and loyalist opposition parties and the alter ego Medrek). That needs to me the context in which one can make a strong argument against ethno-facism, as you indicated, a master of disintegration.
On the orther side of the above alignment, are the parties engaged in genuine peaceful struggle for unity of Ethiopia and freedom of all Ethiopians.
Condemnation of the regime alone does not cut it, but calling for all Ethiopians to unite on the national goal and strategies to achieve those goals need to be the message we should pass along, I believe.

Here is a simple explanation for people who don’t get it why most of us complained about this nonsense reporting. Even in the western democracy, any news which compromises national interest and in dangers people life is kept under the carpet for a while. This is one of those news which should have been kept from reporting for sometime. I personalty get daily breaking newses, which I can create a website and post it as a breaking news. That will only help me to increase my web traffic but greatly damage our struggle to the long awaited freedom. The choice is ours, I have chosen not to tell even my closest.

Forgive me if I am the naive here, I do not understand why people concerned about G7 are lashing out on EMF and making the fuss about the news on Tefera Walu’s sickness. Although Tefera represents the worst of what woyanne stands for, his sickness is an impotrant delevelpmet which can be regarded as news-worthy. in my opinoin a good news agncy/website who works on Ethiopia shouldn’t pass such a news without reproting it. If anything EMF should be commended for trying to verify the news and report. Neither the text news nor the audio mention at any point G7, I have yet to understand why the netters here make a link between Tefra and G7 here with.

The news about Comrade Tefera Walwa has no value to our struggle. It is just a destruction from our major focus. Nonetheless I am seriously concerned about the strategy Andargachew and that good for nothing are following. Andrgachew’s motive is to separate his sister from Tefera by delibrately leaking this kind of information. I know he is vicious and will do it again.
Mark my word he will turn against the poor Dr Berhanu soon. He will work to screw up his marriage.
