EMF – Dawit Kebede of Awraba Times newspaper arrived to USA last week to receive CPJ’s International Press Freedom Award, together with the three international awardees, at a ceremony which will be held in New York.
Dawit made speech at Center for Strategic and international studies, discussed with journalism students at Howard University. He also visited Freedom house; met National endowment for democracy, senators and State Department officials in Washington DC.
Next Tuesday, more than 900 people expected to attend the award ceremony at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel. Leading journalists and major media executives will attend the black-tie dinner which will be chaired by Sir Howard Stinger, Chairman and CEO of SONY Corporation.
After the award ceremony, Dawit Kebede will visit Atlanta and Seattle before returning back to Ethiopia in December.
