Teddy Afro is getting discharged from jail…

(12 August 2009) Teddy Afro is being discharged from jail and he could be released today or tomorrow.  EMF source confirmed. According to our source, Teddy’s attorney Million Assefa and his mother, W/ro Tilaye Aragei are in the process of discharging him from jail. As soon as they finalize the release process Teddy will be free today or tomorow.

Many believe that the charge against the artist is politically motivated. It is a vendetta for his critical songs against the regime. Teddy Afro denied the charge of manslaughter for the death of 18-year-old Degu Yibelte in a hit-and-run incident, saying he was out of the country on the night Degu Yibelte died. However, Judge Leul Gebremariam, a TPLF cadre, convicted the singer for six year prison sentence, despite clear evidences that Teddy never killed the man.

“እግዚአብሔር ታላቅ ነው!” Teddy Afro told judge Leul during the court drama. Indeed, “God is great”… Teddy didn’t serve the six years imprisonment but only 16 months. At this moment he is in discharging process from jail… EMF will follow-up Teddy’s case… please stay tuned.
