Regime foils attack against top government officials

Editor’s note: It has been common phenomena to hear from government-propaganda machines that the regime is foiling attack against top government officials. It appears now that everybody is trying to kill government officials. This tells us how they are hated by the entire Ethiopian people.

APA-Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Ethiopia said on Wednesday that it has foiled a terrorist attack against top government officials.

The government said that security officers have arrested a number of people belonging to a terrorist group who were preparing to carry out some terrorist attacks against government officials.

“Those arrested were trying to cross to Ethiopia from Eritrea via Sudan in the Amhara regional state of Ethiopia. They were given military training in Eritrea,” said the government statement.

It said the alleged terrorist attack was meant to also disturb the forthcoming national elections in Ethiopia, scheduled to be held in May 2010.

The Ethiopian federal police indicated that those arrested admitted that they were given military training in Eritrea, which is at loggerheads with Ethiopia.

The police said that they have also seized various weapons, which they said were also aimed at destroying major infrastructures in the country.

This is not the first time that Ethiopia has accused neighbouring Eritrea of planning to perpetrate such acts, which Eritrea has always denied.

The two countries are unable to ressolve their border dispute for the past 11 years.
