Oromo Community of Munich: Press Release

“It is queer to see democracy and tyranny being hands in gloves” –

Munich, 30 January 2011- On Saturday 5 February 2011, Members of the Oromo diaspora residing in Europe will gather at Neuausser str., in front of “Bayrischer Hof” in metropolis city of Munich, Germany; to protest against despotic leader, Prime Minister Meles Zenawi of Ethiopia regarding his participation on the international Global security Conference that will be held from February 4-6, 2011. Minority regime of Meles is best known for its mock election in which his party won by 96.4%, systematic gross human rights violations, anti-press, environmental degradation, eviction of peasants from their land without compensation and etc. It is appalling to see the democratic governments, the bastion of freedom, are going to take a seat with Meles. This is nothing but promoting despotism.

Oromo community in Munich call and appeal to all peace loving and democratic forces to condemn the brutal and systematic repression being perpetrated against the nation and nationalities of Ethiopia by Prime Minister Meles led regime.
We thereby ask all democratic Governments to stop this unfairly did against Ethiopian nations and nationalities by financing and promoting the Meles regime that is committing genocide against the peoples of Ethiopia.

Peace shall prevail
