EMF (14 September 2008) The first two programs of Ginbot 7 radio were clear, powerful and received well in Ethiopia despite the regime’s attempt of interferences, sources said. According to our sources, the regime tried to cut electricity in Addis Ababa from 2:00 – 3:00 (Ethiopian time) on the 11th of September 2008 to disrupt the people from hearing the first program.
There was clear sign interference on the Saturday’s show, a listener from Addis Ababa told EMF. “They tried to jam the program while Prof. Al. Mariam was being interviewed about the new bill introduced in the US senate.” The listener said. “We tuned our radio to the other frequency and able to listen to the entire program,” he added.
On Wednesday, September 11, 2008 thousands of people in Ethiopia were celebrating the holiday by exchanging good wish through text messages. The SMS reads; “Celebrate the holiday and enjoy your freedom by listening G7 Radio tonight from 2:00 -2:30 if you love your country forward this message for five people.”
