If you are a betting person, here are tips ahead of the fixtures brought to you by Soccer 6 and guest predictor, former Kaizer Chiefs star, Patrick Mayo.
SOUTH AFRICA V BOTSWANA
League position: South Africa 2nd and Botswana 3rd (in African Group A)
Useful facts: Bafana Bafana are still in with a shout of qualifying for the next stage of African World Cup qualifying, if they beat Botswana, and Ethiopia lose to Central Africa Republic. This is an absolute must-win for Gordon Igesund’s charges and nothing less than three points is expected.
Patrick Mayo: I have to say we should be able to beat Botswana. Win for Bafana.
CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC V ETHIOPIA
League position: CAR 4th and Ethiopia 1st (in Group F)
Useful facts: CAR can do Bafana a massive favour if they can ensure Ethiopia drop some points, on what’s sure to be a difficult trip for the Walia Antelopes. However, they have added motivation because they know if they win, then they go to the final stages of African World Cup qualifying. This could be an interesting contest.
Patrick Mayo: Ethiopia win. They’ve got a much stronger team than CAR.
NIGERIA V MALAWI
League position: Nigeria 1st and Malawi 2nd (in Group F)
Useful facts: African giants Nigeria will expect to dominate at home in this African Group F World Cup qualifier. Malawi will have to defend with their lives and ride their luck, if they hope to get any points. The physicality of the Nigerians could also be too much for Malawi to handle. The Super Eagles should have the advantage in this one.
Patrick Mayo: Nigeria win.
BRAZIL V AUSTRALIA
League position: Brazil 9th and Australia 46th
Useful facts: Brazil will be bubbling with confidence after they were victorious in the Confederations Cup, just prior to the start of the league season in Europe. This means the Samba Kings should be able to pull Australia apart with ease, and collect the win in this international friendly.
Patrick Mayo: Brazil should really take the victory with ease.
IVORY COAST V MOROCCO
League position: Ivory Coast 1st and Morocco 2nd (in Group C)
Useful facts: In what could be a cracking affair, a Yaya Toure-inspired Ivory Coast face Morocco on home soil. The North Africans will be quite well organised and this might pose a challenge for Ivory Coast in how they break them down. However, the Elephants should still have enough in reserve to record the win.
Patrick Mayo: Ivory Coast win.
ZIMBABWE V MOZAMBIQUE
League position: Zimbabwe 4th and Mozambique 3rd (in Group G)
Useful facts: The outcome of this match could have a say in which team finishes bottom of Group G in African qualifying. Both outfits are in awful form and this truly is a wooden spoon match at the National Sports Stadium in Harare.
Patrick Mayo: I’ll give the win to Zimbabwe, hey.
