An Ethiopian housemaid who murdered her Saudi employer and seriously injured his little son said in her prison that she is not sorry and that they have to deport her.
A Saudi human rights team visited the maid in jail in the western town of Makkah, where she is awaiting trial after she stabbed her employer 16 times with a kitchen knife. She then attacked his son and inflicted serious injuries on him.
“The maid told the human rights team that she is not sorry for what she had done and that they have no choice but to deport her,” Sabq newspaper said.
The unnamed man was at his house in the western Red Sea port of Jeddah on Tuesday when the maid lunged at him with a kitchen knife and stabbed him in the neck, the upper part of his head and his belly, killing him instantly.
She then stabbed his little son several times before police arrived in the scene and overpowered the maid. Newspapers said on Thursday the boy was still in the intensive care unit but did not mention his age.
Convicted killers in Saudi Arabia are beheaded by the sword but in some cases they can walk free if they paid diya (blood money) for the victim’s relatives.
