EMF (22 May 2009) – Millions of Addis Ababa residents are reportedly in trouble as acute shortage of electricity is hitting the city, source said. Yesterday, 80% of Addis Ababa city was dark. A severe power shortage is also prompting many factories and businesses to shut down, aggravating the ever growing tensions and public discontent against the incumbent regime. According to the power supply schedule handed out to the public by the Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation (EEPCo), people will get electricity only three days a week. Note: This is one of the achievements of double-digit economic growth!
